Just got done watching. Sudfeld might be the best TE on the roster, and I was thinking that before the TD.

Positives1. Petty - Obviously has made big progress since his rookies season, pushing hard for QB2 spot. 2. Lac Edwards - Do we FINALLY have a punter? 3. Leo Williams - On a team loaded at DLine he actually seems like he could be the best. This will be a huge year for him. He's still only 22. Negatives1. Tight Ends - Do we have any? Seriously, it's starting to look like there is not one single NFL caliber TE on the Jets roster 2. Cornerbacks - Does anyone want the CB2 job? I was really hoping M. Williams or someone would step up so we could slide Skrine back to slot/nickel CB. No such luck yet. 3. Injuries - Enunwa, Henderson, Mauldin, Milliner, etc....Hopefully none are more than a 1-2 week thing Other positives and negatives? no arguments here though i'd add genot just not showing a thing. he was erratic and just didn't seem to hurry at the two minute drill mark. he looks like he's playing to be released. if i'm bowles i don't think i'd have much confidence in him being a spot starter or even relieving fitz. i think jalin marshall, peake are keepers. amaro was pitiful but did show some fire when he caught the ball on a 3rd and long. zack sudfeld might be the best te on the team right now. and what is it going to take for milliner to learn how to tackle. he seems very content to try and arm tackle everyone and not get his body into it.

Hey.. is Geno trying to use the Force to make plays? WTF its like hes closing his eyes when he throws. They showed the overhead at one point..he had two other guys ..wiiide open..hes throws a pick in triple coverage? What the heck is Geno doing and what has happened to his throwing motion? Not that it was ever good, but, it looks like he obviously worked on... something, and is trying to do... something, but it's impossible to tell what that is. Maybe he thought he had to get the ball out quicker? Because it is flying out but it is going downward into the ground like he is throwing lawn darts and jumping about...like fucking robin hood!!!

I thought for sure Amaro would translate to the NFL. Came from a passing offense and I assumed we wouldn't ask him to block. Just go out there and be a mismatch. Hasn't happened.
Small hands. Sounds stupid but there is a reason they measure them.

(okay, except for richardson).

I like our depth at WR this year with the young guys, but the CB position does really scare me. Luckily our schedule doesn't really have a lot of elite WRs. Outside of AJ and Brown its mostly 2nd tier guys like fitzy, ty hilton, watkins etc. Not to mention out of 16 games we're only playing 4 top 15 passing offenses from last year (NE, CIN, PIT, ARI) so hopefully that plays into our favor because I could see teams really attacking that weak side. Huh? Watkins...? Are you referring the same watkins who torched us to the tune of a million yards last year and cost us the playoffs? The one who routinely had his way with our secondary? Hilton and Fitz aren't worth respecting as premier receivers?... Sorry, but no.

What about Justin Burris? I know he got burned a couple times but he looked pretty good for a 4th round rookie no? Good call on Burris. Yes he did get beat on some plays but IMO he flashed on other plays and that is all I look for in a rookie, especially a 4th rounder. Great size for todays outside corners and I think he'll turn into a player for us.

Thought Simon looked good and with jags like Mclendon and Jenkins ahead of him I could easily see him getting the most NT snaps by years end. I wonder if it's feasible to cut Jenkins from a salary cap standpoint....honestly don't know.

It's a good problem to have, in a way, but I'm a little worried about how we're going to handle the wide receiver position. If six active receivers make the final 53 (with Devin Smith on the PUP list), I'm hoping for Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker, Quincy Enunwa, Charone Peake, Jalin Marshall and Robby Anderson to be kept.
The problems are that Jalin Marshall's hands have been iffy enough to justify cutting him, but, if you don't include either him or Jeremy Ross on the roster, we won't have a kick/punt returner, and our special teams will take a big hit. And all the beat writers are projecting Kenbrell Thompkins to be on the final 53. Those people are among the few who have been at every practice, so I can't dismiss their opinion, especially when they seem to think it's pretty much a given that Thompkins will be here.
Since B. Marshall, Decker and Enunwa are, of course, givens, I'd rather go with the highest ceiling at the other three spots. Unless we have major injuries from that trio, the other receivers' workload would figure to be minimal, anyway. Why not go with high upside?
I just looked it up. Thompkins was our No. 4 wide receiver statistically last season, finishing with 33 targets and 17 catches. He's certainly serviceable, but I'm not worried that he'll turn into a Pro Bowl receiver if we let him go. I think Peake and Anderson have high enough ceilings that they could be future NFL starters, and I think J. Marshall can contribute positively as a kick/punt returner right away.
Also, although I'm a Penn State grad and a Hackenberg supporter, maybe the best way to resolve the QB roster quandary is if Hackenberg gets (ahem) injured in the final preseason game and ends up on IR. If he's the clear No. 4 this year, how many practice reps is he going to get anyway?
Despite what everyone seems to be thinking right now, you don't really want to get rid of Geno, since he's the only reserve QB with any NFL playing experience. There's no question that you don't want to lose Petty, since he's improving and has already got a team-friendly contract for 2017.

I wonder if it's feasible to cut Jenkins from a salary cap standpoint....honestly don't know. I don't think it would save anything. His $2.25M salary for this season is fully guaranteed. He has another $750K in signing bonus for 2017 -- not sure if that would accelerate to this year, or would be dead $$ for next season. The rest of his '17 salary is not guaranteed. I think it is probably more likely that he is on the roster, especially week 1 when Richardson is out. Whether he finished the season on the roster probably depends on how he plays and if any of the young guys step up. Other factor to consider with Jenkins is his potential impact on '17 comp picks. Projections I have seen so far have us being shut out, having signed 3 qualifying FAs (Forte, McLendon and Jenkins) and having lost 3 qualifying FAs (Snacks, Ivory & Davis). At best this would net us a 7th based upon difference in values of the guys we lost and who we have gained, but there are too many other teams in line for picks ahead of us. If Jenkins is released, we could get a 3rd or 4th for Snacks. In effect we could be "trading" Jenkins for a 3rd or 4th, which I would do in a minute. This is all qualified by the fact that no one really knows the comp pick formula, but it is speculation based on what I have read. Edit: Here is commentary from Spotrac on the Jenkins situation: overthecap.com/2017-compensatory-draft-picks-update-5102016/New York Jets: They’re stuck on a net value 7th that’s below the 32-pick limit. The Jets signed Jarvis Jenkins to play behind a deep position with Sheldon Richardson, Leonard Williams, and potentially Muhammad Wilkerson. Cutting Jenkins would incur $2.25 million of dead money against the 2016 cap, but it would also put the Jets in line to pick up a 4th for Damon Harrison.

why in gods name did we sign Jarvis for that (or any) kind of money? They guy is a rotational dime-a-dozen lineman who will be available on his couch in november if we ever needed him. I can't believe we would give away a 4th rnd comp pick to have him for 2.3 snaps a game
