Fire hIm should have happened 2 years ago. All this stuff about not winning without a franchise QB is a joke look at Arizona they won without Palmer you have a 2 JAG QBs and a rookie QB. hey are in the playoffs. The media have hyped him making him like a Legend, truth Rex cant coach. Look at his first 2 years the Jets backed into the playoffs period If Peyton Manning plays the Jets miss the playoffs. even his defense is overated he has 1 scheme blitz, blitz, blitz cant run any other Scheme wont run a zone defense has to be man coverage and only ma coverage the guy is one dimensional like his brother. The Ryans are living on Daddys rep that's it. this defense doesn't work in a pass happy league. The 4-6 is designed for an era long gone when this league was a running league ask yourselves this where's the Saints tonight their defense doesn't scare anyone the faster this guy is gone the better off this team will be if Woody gets going and does screw around.

I can't think of too many guys who would have taken Geno Smith and a bag of jags to more than 4 or 5 wins this year. Just not possible. This team underachieved but by how much really? Looking at the roster on a week by week basis (meaning the guys who actually suited up and were available to play) it's really hard for me to say the Jets should have been winning a lot of games.
They lost 2 games to the Pats by a grand total of 3 points! 3 POINTS over two games to the AFC's #1 seed. The Jets pushed Denver late into the 4th quarter, they inexplicably blew the game in Green Bay and Geno handed the Bears a win. An OT loss to Minnesota? A 3-point loss to Miami when we were too afraid to let Geno pass the ball.....This team wasn't a doormat and they gave a tough time to MANY playoff teams (GB, Detroit, NE, Denver, Pittsburgh).
After seeing Nick Folk keep the Jets from beating NE last week and having seen Rex befuddle both Tom Brady and Peyton Manning in back-to-back road playoff games when those guys were in their prime, I simply can't get onboard with the idea that getting rid of Rex Ryan starts to make this team better. I just can't. Now, if you tell me that we're replacing him with some elite HC then great....sign me up. But I think there's an 80% chance we're firing Rex simply because we're tired of him and it feels stale, and that he'll be replaced by someone who simply isn't as good.
Oh well, if you want to put a Toyota Prius in the Indianapolis 500 and then fire Jeff Gordon for driving it to only 20th place I guess that's what we can do.

Revisionist history. Manning played and went 14/21 for 182 yards no TDs, no ints. Painter didn't come in until 5:36 left in the third. The Colts pulled Manning because he was getting hit and they didn't want to take the chance of losing him for the playoffs. It was arguably the right move as the Colts made the Super Bowl. At that point the game was 15-10 with the Colts winning but it was anyone's game. Then in the AFC Championship game the Jets were up at the half but fell apart in the second half. There is no reason to think that the Jets couldn't have beaten the Colts with Manning in that first game. www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2009122712/2009/REG16/jets@colts#menu=gameinfo%7CcontentId%3A09000d5d81560b01&tab=analyze

In fact, it makes too much sense. I agree with everything you said. Thank you!

The Jets had the 26th best roster in the NFL prior to the Draft according to Rotoworld (this was AFTER we signed Decker). We all now know that the Draft did nothing to improve it and, even worse, several players were subtracted from the roster due to injury/cut including both starting CBs. The Jets also cut their starting WR2 in David Nelson and, in a couple of games, had Jeremy Kerley as the #1 WR. Shockingly, the Jets finished right around 26th in the NFL this year and people are surprised. www.rotoworld.com/articles/nfl/47034/59/pre-draft-nfl-roster-rankings?pg=4

The anti-Rex crowd continues to promote this myth that Indy laid down against us in 2009. It was anbody's game when Manning was pulled.

Anyone who wants to retain this turd should be kicked in the nuts or forced to watch a Rex Ryan coached offense. +1
Didn't know Rex knew what offense actually was.
It's hard to recognize it as offense when you're given a bottom 10 QB for 5+ years and expected to compete for championships.

Respect the hell out of Rex and will root for him pretty much wherever he goes (since we know it won't be in the AFCE or to the Giants). That said, it's time to move on. The time management issues, the indifference to building this offense and the ****ing penalties and undisciplined play over and over again. I love Rex, but the time to change is here.

People seem to think that we are getting BB, Pete Carrol, or Chip Kelly... Yes, I'd take those guys over Rex, but we're far more likely to end up with a Lovie Smith, Romeo Crennel, Mike Pettine type...
Unless I'm getting some bright college mind, guys who won't come to the Jets (Chris Peterson, Mark Helfrich, Gary Patterson, Brian Kelly, etc.)... Then I'm not in a rush to part with Rex. A GM with ability to gauge talent in the first order of business.

They are 2 real football guys and should help find the right replacements.
