that chip by Forte didn't hurt either... Yeah that just seemed to send him inside or Shell might have been on his own there.

Really? Even Paradis, who hasnt thought much of Petty since he played in Waco on Saturdays has noted his improvement in this area. Dungy and Flutie seemed to be very pleasantly surprised by him too. its amazing how moments just change a game. If that strip sack doesnt happen on our second drive yesterday and we go up ten or fourteen on them early, I think you see such a different game play out. I know Bryce has held onto the ball at times, but that guy came in untouched. Sucks. on the brightside, after that hit, i didnt see Petty get 'Clemons feet', he stood in the pocket and threw the ball downfield multiple times with lineman approaching. Even on that brutal double sack that knocked the wind out of him he hit Anderson. Mostly it's the beat writers especially Joe coporos @turnonthejets Has a hard on for petty becaus he was a 4th round pick but people forget that year he was 3rd best QB after Marriott and Winston and some draft experts had him going late 1st rd early 2nd Nobody had Petty going in the 1st or 2nd, ever. Petty has shown significant improvement over the last 8 months, anyone who argues that is being a contrarian. Oline struggles have limited how much we get to see in the "reading defences" department -- but there's flashes of competency... there's hope for him yet But all of that has nothing to do with his inherent lack of touch and accuracy. That's just who he is and why he was never looked at as a 1-2nd rnd QB. Anything downfield is chuck and pray.

Very encouraging. If Shell pans out, a starting RT using this year's 4th rounder was well worth it.

Yes, and while the pass protection has been shaky withe the replacements, the running game has been good with Bilal. Speaking of Bilal, what a player!

Very encouraging. If Shell pans out, a starting RT using this year's 4th rounder was well worth it. Shell has looked good. As there hasn't been much else to watch, I've been focusing on him the past 2 weeks. He has nice feet and movement skills and looks ideally suited on the right side. Gets a good push in the running game, can get down field to block and hasn't looked over matched in pass protection. Some encouraging signs from him so far.

If Shell and Burris come out of this stretch as above average starters it will be a nice ending to this brutal season.

I'm dying to see the grades on Dozier and Shell. The run blocking was good again today. Can we possibly let Winters go?
We can add to the depth with a draft pick or two, sign a FA, and not have to overpay to keep Winters.
