I feel that Deon Simon's contributions have flown somewhat under the radar. The kid has started to flash the second half of this season and I think he may push McLendon for the starting NT position next year. Not too shabby for a 7th rounder.
I watched last night's game on tape delay. Since I knew what the outcome would be, it allowed me to focus on certain players. I thought Shell started off a little rough in pass protection when going against Cameron Wake (which is nothing to be ashamed of). However, as the game went on, I thought Shell looked a lot better, especially in the run game where he had a pancake. If Shell works on some technical stuff, I think he can compete to start at RT next year.

I've always liked Simon but apparently our coaching staff doesn't like to play him very much. He's really stout at the POA and gets penetration every time I watch him play. I wish they would go with a 3-4 base next year with Leo and Mo at the 5 tech with Simon and McClendon rotating at the nose with most of the reps going to Simon.
I'll take your word on Shell but they had too use an extra lineman(Dozier) half the night to help him out. I'll try and make it a point to watch him more next week.

I was pleasantly surprised with Shell as well. He did have a few costly mental errors, but I expected him to be overmatched physically, especially in pass protection, but he wasn't.
Dozier has played as the jumbo TE multiple times this year. I don't think it was implemented strictly to help Shell, nor do I recall them going with it more than a handful of times, but I could be wrong.

Connor Rogers and Damien Woody thought Shell did pretty well:
Pro Football Focus (yeah, I know) gave Shell the third highest grade on the team last night:
Regarding Simon, I'm not sure that the staff necessarily dislikes him. Bill Parcells always disliked playing rookies and young players and I think that Bowles, being a Parcells disciple, is probably reluctant to play young guys as well.

Ijalana and Richardson in the top four invalidates all of their bullshit scores. Sheldumb had two whopping tackles and Ijalana is a turnstile at LT.

Bowles said in last weeks conference that if Simon brings his low body with him he will be a force in this league , I think the problem is they try to get Sheldon Wilkerson and Williams on field at the same time leaving out Simon but when Sheldon is traded in offseason I expect to see more 3-4 with Williams Simon Wilkerson

Also, how the fuck is Leo not in the top 4?

One other thing. After dealing with an injury early in the season and being a JAG for most of it, Jordan Jenkins has a sack in consecutive games. I know this season sucks, but we are starting to see some production out of the young guys.

Almost half of his entire production this entire season came protecting Shell last night in three quarters with his 9 snaps.

Hard to come into the league and start from day 1 , I expect him to keep improving he reminds me of Calvin pace maybe max 8 sack guy who's good t setting the edge , guy can also lay the lumber he's had some nice hits
