Every GM made the playoffs except Idzik. So I guess nothing is wrong with Woody's approach. Who am I to tell him how to play with his toy. Exactly. I thought the prior GM's were good hires at the time. Bradway was a respected personnel guy, and Tanny wheeled and dealed the Jets to get them the talent for a few playoff runs. Idzik, on the other hand, was a terrible hire, Woody realized it, and is attempting to fix it. For all the name calling about Woody's IQ, every hire he has made to date (with exception of the K&F assisted Idzik) was a solid hire at the time that no one questioned. You're right. He's hited two of the most respected football minds available to help with the hire. Are you complaining about Wolf and Casserly? Because they're the one helping Woody. His approach has been sound. You have to recognize this and realize that even the right moves don't always work out. Doesn't make a sound move bad.

Actually it's the other way around. Who would ever think the owner, the guy who writes the checks wouldn't be involved in the process? How ow come no one asked why Woody was the guy who hired CC and RW as consultants? Always love the "our owner is a dumb fuck" mindset He is a dumb fuck for even considering hiring the HC. Bring the GM in and let him assemble is team. Coach and GM have to get along, work together. Makes no difference who comes first, they either get along or they don't and it doesn't work. If you like a coach, if Woody, Casserly and Wolf like someone and you're afraid of losing them to another team, many not hire him and find one of the 3 equally good candidates for GM that can work with that coach. they have to be on the same page, makes no difference who comes first. Especially if its Marone who has worked with 3 of the candidates for GM

I know, was meant for the guy with the clown face who has issues with the choices, with the owner, with whoever we hire as HC, with whoever we hire as GM, the process. The usual well informed overly pessimistic Jet fan

Especially if its Marone who has worked with 3 of the candidates for GM I disagree with you about it doesn't matter who gets hired first. What I'm looking for is a GM from a stable organization with a background in scouting. If you bring in a HC that is used to running a 4-3 and the GM has come from a team that ran a 3-4 or a ZB scheme vs a power running style now you are taking one of those guys out of their comfort zone. Either the coach has to adjust his coaching or the GM has to identify players that have a different skill set than what he is used to looking for. For years I've heard the talking heads say there really isn't much difference in coaching ability at the NFL level. Talent is what makes the difference. Hire the GM first and let HIM identify the coach that lines up with his vision on how to assemble a team.
