Cant hate on Fitz. He was Fitz before he came here..and he Fitzed as a Jet. Shocker there. The worst thing about Fitz is that he has those Fitz seasons and then can never repeat them. It would've been better for the Jets if he had this past season the first year. Just another in a long line of shitty Jets QBs. Lol...and my son is texting me from college complaining about the Knicks as I type this!! Jet fans were def. baby-rapers in a past life.

With this shit OT draft and FA class, I can't say I'm all that surprised. At least if Clady is healthy, he's still a serviceable starter at LT. Who would we bring in that would be a clear improvement besides Whitworth? Guys like Kalil (who will probably stay in Minn) and especially Joekel have been busts so far and Riley Reiff is a better fit at RT as evidenced this past season. This is a shitty year to need a LT and clearly Maccagnan knows it.

Apparently the Jets have a Feb 15 option on Clady. If cut before then, they do not have to pay his $1MM roster bonus. Makes sense to try to work out a deal with him now. You are not going to pay him $10+ that he is due on his current contract, so try to work something out now, before they have to make the decision on the option. If they can't agree to a deal. then cut him on the 15th with no cap hit.

But I do agree with UT, given the weakness of both the free agent market and draft class for LTs, re-signing Clady on a relatively low cost deal assuming there is little to no $$ committed beyond 2017 makes sense.

I wonder what this new Clady contract is going to look like. Are they going to lower his salary but give him an additional year?

I would guess they look to bring back Ijalana also That would be smart. With Clady they need to tread carefully. He needs a low guarantee, maybe a 2-year deal, but with big upside on incentives for percentage of offensive snaps played. If he plays more than 90% of offensive snaps he should be compensated like a true LT, if it's somewhere between say 70-90% it should be less than that, if he's playing less than 50% of the snaps (meaning most likely he's hurt) then they need to paying him like $5M or less. JHMO.

He had the best season a NY Jets QB has ever had. He had one of the worst seasons ever for a NY Jets QB.
Those were his two years. He actually accomplished a lot. Busy fucker for those 24 months.

He wasn't prepared to lose Decker. It took weeks to bring Enunwa and him together. Then there were no compliments; no way to spell #15 who has to be out there, because FITZ took the summer off.
Forget billboards, Jet fans need a lawyer. Lets sue this fck

I would guess they look to bring back Ijalana also That would be the smart thing to do. He played OK as the replacement LT, and is a good guy to have around as the 3rd Tackle. If the Jets can get Clady to shave a few mill off his salary, they can use some of that money to sweeten Ijalana's deal. After he played fairly well, he probably has earned more than yet another 1 year deal at the vet minimum. If we are keeping Clady - which is sensible given the FA and draft options - then we will need a good backup as health insurance. Ijalana is a good backup.
