Those unfortunate 17 kids. Tragic their lives were cut short. Any of yous have high school age kids? 2 girls 18 Freshman in College and 15 Sophomore in High School. There is no doubt that this is tragic. No one is disputing that. The problem is what, if anything, can be done to prevent shootings in the future. Trump said he is open to making background checks stronger and better. I am all for that. He is looking to make bump stocks illegal, like someone said I doubt it helps but I can definitely live with that. The problem is that the problem is law enforcement has known about these people. This kid in particular had so many red flags it is amazing that he wasn't stopped. 2 calls to the FBI, 20+ local police visits, DYFS visits and interviews, thrown out of 2 schools, tons of locals that said he was the "most likely to shoot up the school". How much more do you need to be denied a gun during a background check. The system is responsible for this tragedy. Mental health problems are excused or ignored and then mainstreamed now. The only solution is drugging kids which can have the opposite of the intended effect such as "if you begin to have suicidal thoughts discontinue using drug xyz" Lastly IMHO is the availability of legal guns or making currently legal gun owners potential criminals because that is all we are talking about taking away. Illegal guns will still be prevalent and lets be honest if someone wants to kill someone I don't think a potential gun law violation will slow them down much. Then again making drugs and prostitutes illegal has definitely eradicated them so who am I to make that determination. I think the following is possible and may help: Ensure that background checks are more comprehensive. Even if it takes a week and you have to actually interview the references that you put on your application. Yes they ask for references on a gun license application. Make sure that law enforcement has access to all records nationally for background checks. Raise the minimum gun ownership age to 21. I assume there would have to be some provision for a permit with an adult for a minor for maybe a single shot hunting rifle to keel hunters happy. Start being honest on both sides regarding guns. There haven't been 18 school shootings and ending bump stocks or improving background checks won't be the end of the 2nd amendment. Realize that Gun Free Zones are a problem and an easy target. Put armed cops in schools. There are cops in most of them already. Change the narrative so school shootings aren't sexy to these demented people. We have to stop giving notoriety to these people. Take mental illness seriously and address it. Make sure that when flags are raised something is done and police have the ability within the constitution to help. Many states have passed laws where guns can be taken away for a waiting period if there are signs of problems. Toughen kids up. Stop taking every hurt feeling seriously. We learn the old "sticks and stones" adage. Now everyone is expected to stop and placate anyone whose feelings are hurt and people lash out when the world doesn't work like that.

Yeah, because nothing about trump and his past says these women's stories could possibly be true. A good guy like donald trump would never do anything these 20 or so women have come forward about.... Like I said... Refusal to say anything negative about trump no matter how many stupid or disgusting things he says he or does. We need to accept the fact that sometimes a brutal dictator is better than nothing at all. Like what H and O did to Lybia. And Dubya in Iraq. Some places simply cannot handle democracy. We barely can. Agreed! We cannot evolve people into Democracy. Trump is a doosh, but he aint Shrillary and he supports LE and the Military, which OBmamda dint.

it could be just one of those fucked up things the left does cuz the ends justify the means, ya know? Lying, taking Soros' moeny for astroturf projects...this is why "fake news" resonates with so many people. And now it looks like CNN gave students scripted questions for that "townhall meeting". More like Soviet kangaroo court...

Sorry, but you just don't know much about this subject. Which is only natural seeing where you guys all live and have lived your whole lives. Please then, regale us of your tragic upbringing in Beirut. I know what Harry is talking about. I have friends that live near Middltown on big pieces of property and if they call the police, it can take anywhere from 25 to 55 mins for a cruiser to show up. PK has probably seen this. They all own what would be considered assault rifles; most of them own several guns including semis and shotguns with ammo that would rip you apart. And they're not hunters - they just need these guns for home defense

So.
Sheriff Scott Israel of Broward CO FL held a press conference shortly after the murders and mayhem in Parkland and got all teary eyed and said the (paraphrasing) victims were dead due to a AR-15 and went on about getting rid of them for the children's sake.
He failed to mention that they had been to the psycho's house some thirty times for threatening people with a gun to the head, hidinga gun in the yard, and such things as that and they did nothing.. There was a Broward CO Deputy assigned to the school present for the shooting who took up a defensive position and did not engage the Fuck Head, he knew where the shooting was happening, no doubt he would of heard the screams of the kids, 6 minute shooting spree and the Deputy arrives 2 minutes in and waits out the last 4 minutes. I realize there is no legal duty for LEO's to protect folks, but cmon.
All of this is on Sheriff Scott Israel, the FBI, and the school district. And that lousy Deputy.
And the demented freak psycho.
And.....
But it wasn't because we own AR's

I like how they try to disguise their clear corruption and politics as "human error" and incompetence... and my personal favorite... Its just such a SCAWY job! So scared. Poor LEO just fearing for their lives every moment of the day. Just freezing in fear. GFY

Just saw that the deputy assigned to the school resigned, hopefully to live out the rest of his life in seclusion in Idaho.

My 26 year old is a school teacher. The thought of her running toward an active shooter with a gun drawn is not only laughable but fucking scary shit. I take her to the range and she cannot hit a B28 from 15 feet and no one is shooting at her.
