ON the 17th I will begin a drive from Johnson City TN to Portland OR.
Any comments, advice, or stories of similar road trips would be appreciated.
My sister is moving back here, so I will be helping her drive a UHaul/Ryder/Penske truck with a car trailer behind it.
Over 3,000 miles Via a southern route, with my twice widowed sister and her two mis behaving little dogs. My sister is a pearl, her dogs suck but as long as there not left unattended they don't cause too much troubles, so they should be tolerable.
Could go as far south as Dallas or maybe a little further north through OKC, I guess we will make the call when the time comes weather permitting.
Never made a drive of this length before. The truck has to be returned in seven days so that's our time frame, I figure at least five days of driving. Good chance to see some of the heartland, maybe a bit of Route 66, a chance to eat some southern food.
Maybe I will have fun?

Stock up on ketamine. It makes the drive so much more endurable. You're not afraid of ghouls, monsters and stuff, though, right?

I envy you. Long drives like that used to be my fucking lifeline all hopped up on pills and booze, out there just moving. Small towns, the desert, the isolation. Fuck I loved it. I do it sober now but admit it's not as much fun or pleasing

Johnson City? That's cool. Played there once, it's basically a two city block town.

Sounds like a fun adventure! I've always wanted to drive across country like that, hope you enjoy it. And don't be a pussy, take the northern route!

I do it sober now but admit it's not as much fun or pleasing I loved taking road trips, especially during my college days. With so much time spent on devices and social media these days, do guys/gals today even do road trips any more?

============================== Had to google that, sounds like the ticket cause I am dreading sharing a hotel room with my Sister and the dogs, but I don't think it is in the cards. I would love to take a 1/4 ounce or so of weed, but am too much of a pussy to try to fly with it.

Last thing you need is to get into an accident or arrested because of any drug or alcohol. Have a great trip.

Alcohol is my thing but I pretty much only drink at home after dinner, the dope often comes out after 10 pm when I want to sleep. My sister is cool and will drink occasionally, but her two husbands died of alcohol addiction and if she see's me drinking to much,,,, the pot I would have no problem sneaking out and having a quick bowl. Just worried about unwinding at bed time.

I would love to take a 1/4 ounce or so of weed, but am too much of a pussy to try to fly with it. Easy. Cross the river into Washington state and you can buy some from a legal shop!

I drove from Oklahoma City to NJ about 20 years ago. Best thing I can suggest it try to plan out interesting stops along the way. We went an out of the way route through St. Louis, Chicago and Michigan to see people we knew.

Cross the river into Washington state and you can buy some from a legal shop! ============================================== Oregon voted in the last election to legalize, and beyond that I always have some around, it's just always been easy to get especially since the medical marijuana was legalized 10 years ago. Thing is I am flying from Portland to TN, and I have a great fear of what may happen if I try to smuggle some of my dope on to the plane. pre 911 i just to wrap a bit in foil and put it in my checked baggage, now I'm just doing a carry on. So unless I pick some up on the way back, I'll be traveling clean. But I will be armed, so it's probably for the best.

But I am not sure I want to even stop in on them? Maybe I can find the worlds largest ball of twine or something.
