Where are you hearing this? I've looked online for like 15 minutes and don't see anyone mentioning an announcement Thursday. I heard it on ESPN radio today, a brief update. I don't see anything online either or I would have put in a link I think you may have misheard them. I thought I heard them say something about a big announcement for ESPN Radio. I think it had to do with Stephen A Smith coming back or something like that.

I can't stomach NY media anymore, this shit is just beyond a joke and a blatant attempt by this punk to sabotage his career before it's even started. The media are petrified that any QB prospect we have could turn the fortunes of this franchise around, their popularity depends on negative press. Oh yes, it's the media, not that the jets suck and hackenburg is horrible (which is what 31 other teams believed by passing on his worthless ass). The media is the real problem. Hahahaha. Yeah right, when jets are doing well the media kisses their ass. It is not he media. It is this worthless joke of an organization. As much as you may dislike Hack, this is not a valid argument. Plenty of players that go on the be good>great are passed over many times by 31 teams in the league. Just proves the draft is a crapshoot.

Wow. A brave man, putting himself at risk of forum ridicule. I agree with you. I'd resign Geno. With Fitz gone, he would be the best QB on our roster. Is it beyond the realm of possibility, that Smith, given another shot, can step up his game??? Disclaimer: All things being equal, I give people the benefit of the doubt. Given a 50/50 chance I tend to take a shot. You can't be a Hampurite and not expect ridicule so why not state the obvious? Geno Smith has had the best arm on this team for 4 years. He's a reasonable dual threat with his legs and has shown, on more than one occasion, that he can make big plays. He's also shown a propensity to be a complete knucklehead, say stupid stuff that gets him punched in the face, and make some boneheaded decisions on the field. (Most of those things are 2+ years ago) I do think he's better now than he was his first two years and has matured some. I do think he looked very good in the limited action he saw in Gailey's system. I do think he rarely got the chance to play with guys like Marshall and Decker who clearly benefited Fitzpatrick. I still remember his games in Miami where he looked sensational, his MNF game in Atlanta, etc. A true QB coach/guru could probably work some wonders with this guy. With all that said, unfortunately, he's the best we've got right now. I don't think there will be a strong market for him. I'd sign him to a deal that's slightly better than Backup QB money and gives him incentives should he become starter. He's the ONLY guy with experience at this point. I'd still go after a veteran QB in free agency but we need to have a "starting caliber" QB, even if just in name only, before we head into the Draft. You don't want to look like a needy team....even though we all know the Jets are. Man, Geno's injury really screwed up some things, primarily for him. He likely lost the chance to create a decent market for himself. I think he would have played fairly well this year and garnered some interest in the open market (ex. high-end #2 money). You would sign Geno plus another FA QB? I guess you would get rid of Petty at that point? I don't see them tossing Hack aside at this point. Do you consider Glennon or Taylor a free agent type to go after when signing Geno or are you thinking more along the lines of Shaun Hill type guy?

Read earlier they were gonna play all 3 QBs today. Should be a Sanchez sighting a little bit later.

The years go by, and we continue to pretend like Alex Smith is a bottom tier game manager. That's not fair. For a QB who was nearly written off as a massive bust, he's done his job. So he's a mid-level game manager?
