Don't know much about him as a corner, but he has been a pretty good punt returner for the Vikings. And we could use one of those. Sherels would be a very nice signing, for the right price. Has been very good as a KR/PR and has played some from scrimmage as a reserve CB. Could solve both KR and PR with one player, and add depth as a 5th or 6th CB as well.

Albert Breer @albertbreer 6s6 seconds ago Yes, the Giants beat out the Jags for Olivier Vernon. But another darkhorse emerged today -- the crosstown NY Jets. Simply got too pricey Very interesting. Looks like the Jets will spend for the right players. Any other edge rushers out there, I wonder?

Time for some Pot-Roast. More filling than Snacks.

Love it. Great player, who can run, catch and block. Good for another 2 or 3 years at a high level.

Big raise, doesn't need to move his family.
Great for Snacks, sucks for us.

$8-9 million per? Fuck that noise Really like snacks but again that's crazy money for a NT who played what 54% of defensive snaps last year. Too rich for our blood. He will probably play more downs in their 4-3.

Profootballtalk.com reports the Browns have "yanked" their offer to free agent RT Mitchell Schwartz. The Browns are apparently playing hardball with their four-year right tackle, though PFT's Mike Florio acknowledges the move "could be posturing." Cleveland has already lost Travis Benjamin (Chargers) in free agency, and is poised to lose Alex Mack (Falcons), as well. Previous reports out of Cleveland had the team likely to re-sign Schwartz at roughly $7.5 million per season. Source: Profootballtalk on Twitter Mar 9 - 12:56 PM Hmmmmm...can he play LT, or is he purely a RT? Could be an upgrade from Breno...or maybe a more cost-effective successor to Brick?

I'm not worried at all. We know we won't be big spenders this year, last year was fill holes as well as appease the 80 percent weird cap rule. Macs plan all along was to build through draft, and that's what we will do. Next year we will have around 50 million to spend and I don't expect another splash. Maybe a big signing but rest used to resign players. Our problem lies in Revis. We're paying top corner money for a player who is no longer at the top. That's an issue. Plus Wilks big number, that needs to get addressed. Name me 5 corners in the nfl better than Revis right now? Yup. Lowest completion percentage allowed of any CB in the NFL last season.

I thought about dumping this thread, but I stickied it instead as a reminder to not start stupid threads or they will be dumped. We'd be more desperate than FF2 begging the Mrs. for a handy on his birthday if we even entertained the thought of bringing the Nacho back here. Blech. The same thing was said about my thread on jets insider years ago when I said signing Revis to QB money would decimate the Jets roster well that's happening right now. So put this thread somewhere so I can bring this up at a later date if it does happen. Revis is not paid QB money, unless you are talking about a Fitz level QB. $14M a year is not QB money. It's Malik Jackson level money.

Me like. Forte is a terrific all-round back with a few good years left in him.

Looks like we're keeping Kenbrell Thompkins
Did he get tendered?
Or, with the way FA deals seem to be going, did we give him a 5 year, $75M contract?

In addition to re-signing Powell, two realistic guys I'd love to add are Shea McClellin and J.R. Sweezy. McClellin would give us an up and coming, cover LB to put next to Harris in the middle and Sweezy could start at RG or perhaps even RT. Always liked McClellin. After some early struggles, he seems to have found his role as a coverage ILB with some bonus pass-rush ability.

Heard on radio this morning Snacks to Jints? They are in the hunt. Probably our greatest competition. Snacks wants to stay in NY for family reasons. If he can't do it with the Jets, he could it with the Gints - landing a big contract without having to move anything, except to another locker room.
