Well let's see. We've got two guys who are not John Idzik and Rex Ryan so that's a start. But those guys still don't have a solid QB, they went and got the same two CBs that helped take Rex to the two AFC Championship games, and almost comedicly by happenstance they drafted yet ANOTHER defensive lineman in the Top 10. I kinda feel like I'm in a fricken time machine. For all intensive purposes this is a remarkably similar team to the 2009-2011 Jets. Everyone in their mother knows this. So the question is whether we shoud really expect different results? Biggest difference between those two teams is O Line. The 09-10 teams had one of the best O Lines in the game -- Brick and Mangold in their primes, Faneca, Moore and Woody. That was a great line. Last year's line was average at best and we are still trying to piece the OL together for the upcoming season. What I Love about the Gailey hire will be his ability to game plan according to each Defense he faces. Bowles is off the hook for having to tell the OC how he wants to attack offensively. The other thing that is in our favor is the strong veteran presence on both lines, secondary and WR positions... these guys will know how to get the job done. 10-6

There's a lot of optimism here - based on pretty much - nothing. Other than the cornerback position being greatly improved. No one knows how good of a coach Bowles will be. But improving the secondary and getting one good WR will win us 5-6 more games I predicted 10 wins and it was not based on nothing -- it was based on 3 factors: Turnover Margin, Red Zone Offense and schedule. Last year we were 29th in the league in TO margin, including a ridiculous -15 during the 1-8 start that killed the season; 3 turnovers forced and 18 given up through 9 games. With the upgrades in the secondary, we should be able to force more TOs than last year, which shoudl even out the TO margin even if we do not cut back on the TOs on offense. Over the last 6 years, we have been about 30 games below .500 when we lost the TO battle and 30 games above when we win it. Limiting TOs and forcing TOs can go a long way to turning things around this season. Better TO margin could be worth 1-3 more wins. Red Zone offense was dead last in the league last season -- scoring TDs on 36% of our red zone opportunities. The addition of Marshall and a healthy Decker -- along with Amaro give our QB (whoever he may be) 3 big red zone targets. Eliminate the cute gimmick offense we often ran in the red zone and we should improve this season. Last year we lost one game in OT and 3 more games by 3 points or less. Better red zone offense could also be worth 1 to 3 more wins. Our offense does not need to be great -- in my opinion, we just need to take care of the ball and convert at league average rate in the red zone to be a much better team. Last point was the schedule. Assume we go 3-3 in our Division and 2-2 against NFC East. I don't think 3-1 against AFC South is out of the question. We should beat Tenn & Jax at home and Houston is beatable in their building. That leaves two games against Oakland and Cleveland to get to 10. Is it an optimistic view. Absolutely. But it is not based on nothing and I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility. #SCIENCE!!

I will also point out the fact that whenever a receiver has 25% of his catches going for TD's...... get him at least 8 targets a game!!! PLEASE!

Career college stats for his 4 year collegiate career are as follows; 121 receptions, 2503 yds rec, avg a 20.7 per rec, with 30 td's.
So I ask you this hampur? Where the fuck is the love for Devin Smith???
That's about a season -and- a -half for Amari Cooper!!
I think most Jets fans were so ERECT over Cooper and White in the 1st, that by the time Devin Smith was selected the Viagra had worn off.
I like the pick... I think the kid can flat out BALL!! Hoping he has Desean Jackson's attitude and skill!!

I would prefer Miles stay on the 53 and Williams OR Walls do a season on the PS.
My reasoning is 2 fold.... he's a very good "gunner" on ST and I'm hoping he can take over for Gilchrist next season due to his cap hit and our need for cap flexibility next year with the new Wilkerson contract. I see Gilchrist leaving with Miles or the kid from Syracuse taking his place. Cro and his $8 mil should be leaving next year as well, so with Skrine, Revis and Milliner or McDougle taking over we don't need so many CB's. Hoping Jarrett gets beaten out by Allen.
Pretty sure Walls is no longer PS eligible. Even with the expanded PS rosters, I think that any player with more than 2 accrued seasons is not eligible and Walls has 3 (I think -- if I understand what constitutes an accrued season correctly. Williams would be PS eligible, but I am afraid he would be signed off the PS in a heartbeat. I guess it is a good problem to have -- too much talent in the secondary compared to last year when we had to sign guys off the street to start for us. Agree with you on Allen -- really hoping he can rebound now since he will not be playing out of position at CB. Thought he was developing really well until he was forced to play CB last year -- kind of became a lost season for him. Thanks for the info Lith... but I don't know how we can keep ALL these CB's??? Revis, Cro, Skrine, Milliner and McDougle make the squad.... you have 2 spots left for Walls, Williams. I'll be curious to see who backs up Skrine in the slot? Walls & Williams are more outside guys. At Safety we have Gilchrist, Jarrett, Allen, Pryor, Miles and Eskridge... definitely less talent at the S position.
Height: 6-0
Weight: 183
40: 4.45
Year: 5Sr
Darrin Walls
School: Notre Dame
Position: CB
Bio: Three-year starter who tallied 41/3/4 as a senior and 63/1/5 as a junior.
Positive: Big cornerback who's displayed the ability to shut down opponents throughout his college career. Jams opponents at the line of scrimmage, aggressive throughout the route, and fights hard to defend passes. Loses nothing transitioning to run with opponents, shows a terrific burst out of his plant, and has opponents throwing away from him. Can stay on the receivers' hip out of their breaks and plays with a explosiveness.
Negative: Must improve the consistency of his backpedal. Seems to get lost in zone coverage.
Analysis: Walls displayed the underlying skills to be a top cornerback prospect throughout his college career. He must fine-tune the details of his game, but he is a prospect who could see significant action in nickel packages as a rookie in the NFL.

I have thought about the possibility of Milliner or McDougle starting on the PUP list. I don't know all of the eligibility rules, but I think that if they are able to participate in training camp, they are not eligible for PUP. Both of these guys could use a full training camp -- so I am hoping they are healthy enough for camp and don't end up on PUP. If one of them does start on PUP, I am not sure Miles is the guy who benefits -- more likely I could see a guy like Walls or Williams sticking. My guess is Miles is one of the PS guys. Will be interesting to see how some of these guys look in TC and pre-season -- pretty early to make roster projections right now. I would prefer Miles stay on the 53 and Williams OR Walls do a season on the PS.

When the fvck is this appeal anyway? Right after Brady decides to retire! Somewhere around 2018. He'll be suspended for the 1st 4 games of his gig on the NFL Network.

Best case scenario..... Coples has a MONSTER camp while Mo is sitting out camp!! If it appears that Coples can give you equal to what Mo gives you then I would have no problem getting something back for Mo and saving the Cap space. That lets "Q" play 2015 and 2016 under rookie deal before reaching FA in 2017 when a lot of the big deals (Revis, Brick, Mangold) are coming off the board. If only Coples can step up big time in replacing Mo then the Jets have a LOT of flexibility concerning Mo.
Coples certainly has better physical attributes than MO.... I just don't know if he has the same "Heart".

Why would you be ecstatic for getting a #1 for a proven DLineman entering his prime? We can keep all of them with our QB set too make peanuts for the next three years at the absolute minimum. If a guy lived in a shithole apartment but had two Ferraris in the garage he might be open to selling one car and buying a nice house. That's kinda the position the Jets are in. You can only drive one car at a time, you can only start 2 DEs at a time. We are simply loaded on the DLine...it's a great problem to have. But the Jets could certainly use a QB, maybe a stud OLB, maybe an elite RB in the next 1-2 years. Rather than playing a 3-4 DE in a position where he's not a perfect fit (ex. 3-4 NT or 4-3 DT) just to get him on the field, rather than keeping 1 of 3 guys with potential Pro Bowl talent on the sideline, I'd prefer to unlock that value and use it to significantly upgrade another position. I hear what you're saying Jetstream but we need to remember that things happen during the season that make having depth on the line crucial. I also believe locking up Mo would allow us to keep the vibe in the locker-room upbeat and positive. Then after this season you allow "Snacks" to walk (while garnering a 4th round comp pick) Cromartie gets cut as Milliner/McDougle/Walls etc. step up their game, Coples, Richardson, Leo and Mo set the rotation for 2016 with Coples leaving after 2016 for another 4th round comp. Richardson gets his extension and in 2017 you have Mo, Sheldon and Leo up front.
I think the Jets can allow this group of Leo, Mo and Sheldon to be the center pieces of a dominant line for years to come. Coples and Harrison (who I really like) are the one's to leave over the next 3 years while allowing us the chance to pick up extra picks without breaking up the "core" guys. Wilkerson gets extended before the season starts.... Bowles goes into his rookie season with a full defensive arsenal and the hope that his "D" can allow the Offense to do just enough to get to 10-11 wins.

I usually go retired guys for jerseys. My son has a Maynard and Chrebet -- I have a Martin. Bought a Pryor last year -- think I will stick with the old guys from now on. That's what I'd do if I got another. Prolly a McNeil or Toon. Ha!! I bought a Pryor Jersey and wore it to the Packers game, Lith.... Had to explain who he was to all of the Packers fans and then the kid plays a lame ass game to boot!!
Not giving up on him though.... he was playing out of position for the most part. Having him back at SS should help!

No Scott Walker love going on here???
Wasn't raised with the proverbial "Silver Spoon" in his mouth like Bush or "Greedy" like the Clintons or inexperienced like Dr. Carson or a "Thug" like Christie.
He's tough minded, wants to seal the border, make a balanced budget law, "Decrease" not increase the national debt, Actually call radical Islam what it is
(a bunch of terrorists) reduce taxes and reduce the size and reach of Gov't.
That's what I'm talking about!
