Adios Jordan Eberle. And Nick Leddy. And Andrew Ladd's contract. Can't wait to see what Lou does with all of that cap space. i liked eberle, but i can't think of a guy that missed more open chances than that guy leddy's shelf date has expired ladd's shelf date expired 2 years ago i think lou gets us over the hump this offseason, the core has paid its dues and we were a blown call away from reaching the finals IMO. and we would have beaten the habs in 5, if not 4

I never liked Eberle because he reminded me of Strome....the ultimate passenger that was more cold than hot. I'm still waiting for him to dig his first puck out of the boards.
I get the Leddy trade but I'm a bit concerned about what's behind him. Right now our top 4 are Pulock, Pelech, Dobson, and Mayfield which is good. Beyond that we have old man Greene and nada. Lous biggest mistake was trading Toews.
I hate giving up picks but the Ladd trade was a coup for us.

Other thing that concerns me about moving on from Leddy is he is really the only D-man we had that could skate with the puck. We have had stretches, seemingly every game where we have struggled to break out of our zone, and not having a D-man who skates well with the puck is going to hurt. I understnad the need for the move, but it is going to be critical that we can find a replacement for him. But Lou has made a lot of the right moves over the past 3 years, I am sure he has a plan.

I had seen some talk of playing a couple of games at the Coliseum to avoid exactly this kind of schedule.

My biggest concern is who is in the pipeline to fill that need. When we went down a Dman this year we were playing fucking Hickey and I'm sure all of you know how I feel about him. I'm still confident in Lou but trading Toews hurts even more now with the loss of Leddy. It's not easy to find a smooth skating Dman in free agency that doesn't cost a max contract. I don't follow the youngsters as much as I used to....do you know of someone already in the organization that could fill that roll? Also Big L

This is a good news/bad news scenario. On the bright side we'll be closing out the season with a ton of home games being played with an insane crowd.....they just can't get in a big hole early on and I don't think they will.

Also Big L I don't follow the guys at Bridgeport, so I have no idea if we have someone in the system who can step in and play. Really think the replacement for Leddy will have to come from outside the organization.

You still interested in tryng to meet for an Isles/Jets weekend. Looking at the schedules, Isles have the Devils at home on Saturday Dec 11th and the Jets host the Saints on Sunday the 12th.

I can't commit just yet because of aging family members but I'm definitely not taking in another Jets game or anything NFL related. I still have your number and I'll let you know as we move closer. If it was my call I'd be 100% going to an Isles game.
