Anyone surprised that the refs waive off what should have been an icing call and it comes back to haunt us. Just the way this season has gone so far. Seems like any mistake made, and the puck is in the back of the net. This is just a bad hockey team right now. Can't score consistenty, which has been a thing for the last few seasons, but the play in our own end. Turnovers, inability to clar the zone, losing guys defensively, not enough pressure on the puck. It is all a mess. Then add a goalie who does not appear to be ready to play at this level. Did not see either of Sorokin's first two games, but he does not look good. |

Back in action tonight. Both teams have had some time off. Will be interesting to see how they play. Play almost perfect like game 1 or bumbling baboons like game 7.

Not going to complain about a win, though. We needed thsoe two points badly, and that power play at the end was beautiful. Controlling the puck in the zone for the entire duration of the PP until we scored. That was a very encouraging sign. That, and not being shorthanded at all in the game. Had some rough stretches in our own end, but at least we scored enough to overcome it. |

Where is everybody? Did we just beat the Rangers last night? 2nd shutout of the Rags by Varlamov, and his 3rd of the season. Probably the biggest takeawy from last night's game (aside from taking two points form the Blue-shirted fuckers) was the contributions from the 4th line. They had not played well all season before last night's game. We are a much better team when those guys are playing well.

If Dobson works some more on his boards game the sky is the limit for this kid....he already dishes a sweet pass and can skate.

Too passive. amazing they couldn’t get one by desmith (who?) in OT or shootout. And Bailey in the SO? WTF? Dude is useless.so let’s put him out there with the game on the line. Wtf Barry and barzal with the JT shout-out attempt. Super slow, over handle, nothing. |

One guy who has stood out to me so far this season is Dal Colle. He is never going to be the big scorer you hope for out of a top 10 pick, but he has played well. He is tough in front of the net and along the boards, playing well in his own end. Its not showing up on the scoresheet, but he looks much improved to me.

From an isles board- “People jumping on MDC's jock have been in the desert so long they're staring to look at their own sweat as a water fountain. The guy has 2 assists and 1 shot on goal this season. He isn't getting better as much as he's becoming slightly less embarrassing.” |

I am not saying he is anywhere near what you want out of a 5th overall pick. But he has improved from where he was the last few years and I think he is establishing himself as a decent 3rd/4th line winger. |

This game scared the shit out of me. Perfect spot for a letdown, coming off the W against the Bruins, playing a Covid depleted Buffalo team, after a two week layoff. But that 3rd period was a thing of beauty, completely locking down the Sabres. 0 shots allowed in a period for the first time in Islander history. Gotta do it again tomorrow night and sweep the back to back.
