I got J&J back in may. No side effects other than feeling crappy the next day which is normal. I had routine bloodwork recently and Dr ordered antibody test. He said I had antibodies so the shot must be doing something.

He said I had antibodies so the shot must be doing something. Or you could have had it and been asymptomatic like millions of other people and developed those antibodies. Notice how we have the new spike in cases when our kids went back to school and they started ramping up testing yet none of these kids are being hospitalized and deaths are relatively flat. Too many people think covid is a death sentence when if you look at the numbers that is clearly not the case. I believe the cdc is still saying the survival rate is around 98.7% for those that tested positive. Yet there are millions upon millions of people who had covid, barely had symptoms or none at all, and were never tested so they don't factor into the statistics. I believe I am in that category. Add in those millions and what is the true survival rate? And if you dig further into the Fauci emails he compared it to bad a flu season like we had in 1957.

now they won't allow me to test for antibodies without having had the jab, which doesn't make sense at all That should tell you all you need to know about the jab. I know you already know my stance on the jab so I won't bring it up and derail this thread. yep. you know me too. so much doesn't make sense. not about me i mean. making no sense. but about the, you know, the thing.

I had Guillain-Barré reaction to a flu shot 15 years ago - was a fcking nightmare that went on for years.
So I was very reluctant to get jabbed for COVID. But when it became obvious that I was going to end up contacting COVID at some point or another, I started trying to sort out my options. I would much prefer a nasal vax but those remain a way off.
So, I consulted with two different immunologists and we worked out a plan, based on reported safety data, that I would only try the Pfizer vaccine. I did a deep dive into the mRNA issue to the extent that I am satisfied - the Pfizer vax is also fairly "low dose" and has the fewest ingredients. We also agreed that I would wait for 30mins at the place just in case.
The docs didn't tell me to, but I chose to take a baby aspirin a few days prior to the vaccine and for a few days afterwards, to lower the chances of any blot clot issues.
Anyway, I had the first jab about a month ago and the only thing I had was a headache and a feeling something like a mix of a hangover and jet-lag. Went on for about two days.
The only oddity I have noticed is that I am suddenly feeling allergic to my dog, even though I have had her for six years. When she comes in the room now, my nose itches, throat too a bit. Coincidence? Don't know - not particularly a big deal.
I got the second shot just today. Feel fine - maybe better than after the first shot. Hopefully tomorrow the headache is minimal.
Wife got two Pfizers last year, no issues. Sopne is on one - no issues - and he may go for #2 pending how I feel.

No way in hell would I get another vaccine if I had GBS previously. How bad was it? Were you intubated?

How bad was it? Were you intubated? No no - but I felt like I could not breathe, for months - like I had a belt cinched around my abdomen. It was exhausting - I couldn't take a deep breath and couldn't hold my breath for more than like a second. I was dizzy and clumsy, found it hard to pronounce certain words or sounds. I had double-vision for nine months (couldn't read anything), terrible peripheral neuropathy which made my hands and feet both numb and also super-sensitive to hot and cold. My fingers wouldn't work if it was cold out and driving with the heat on in the car made my feet feel like I had them in a fire. My memory was shot; I would make plans one day and then a few days later they were as distant as a childhood memory. Just fcking awful; the docs scanned me for a stroke or clot; I had several lung x-rays. It was all just exhausting. I also had ocular migraines that went on for several years. That was my one and only flu shot. Never again. Most of the symptoms eventually went away. My vision def degraded and never really snapped back. I also still have sensitive hands and feet thought not as bad as previously. No Jet games past October! They're usually out of it by then anyhow:) Yeah - I have been super-careful about vaccines since then, and espy just health in general. It took a long time to rebuild so I don't want to squander anything. I was just quite sure at this point that I was going to come into contact with COVID sooner or later. I am friendly with a doctor from NYU who ran the research testing the Pfizer vaccine. She was a big cheerleader and really banged the drum on the overall safety. The docs too were useful - they did a deep dive into the VAERS. Were very frank about not getting the JNJ. Hopefully it all worked out. So far so good. It's not an easy decision but I also wanted to help protect my youngest, daughter, who is not eligible for the vax any time soon.

Glad you were able to take back control of your health. That sounds like it was a harrowing ordeal. How were they frank about the JJ? If I cave, that was the one I was leaning towards.

Wifne and I both did Pfizer. She an RN and I work in healthcare IT. So we felt it better to get it in Early 2020. Her arm got a little sore after the second but nothing other than that for either of us. I actually went to the gym immediately after get both jabs and did my full workout.
Question: If we did the 2 jab stab and they are talking about boosters for those, can we just go and get the J&J and be done with the life of boosters or is that a medical no no?

i'm sure i had it in march of 2020. wifne too. we did not get tested but my business partner did, we all came down sick at the same time same symptoms after working the same large casino party together. he got tested and one of my dealers got it too and tested positive doc told me and my wife by phone that it sounded like we had it, didn't recommend going in for the test. again this was march 2020 the shit was still flying into/off of the fan now they won't allow me to test for antibodies without having had the jab, which doesn't make sense at all Who won't let you? My daughter just went to a lab and got the test done. Didn't even ask a doctor. Pretty sure she went to Labcorp and scheduled online.

Oh they were just like - we checked, there’ve been cases of GB reported, we don’t consider you a candidate for that shot. I had also been wondering about JNJ because of getting just one, possible deeper immunity, etc.

I will add that JnJ makes a bunch of other vaccines while I don't think Moderna has ever had any vaccine approved by the FDA. I believe Pfizer has made some vaccines.
