Matt Harvey back in action looking on top of his game is enough to provide excitement for the season, hoping for good things to come.

The Mets young pitching is tremendous. Sounds like Syndegaard was electric today, as well. I really think you guys will be a playoff team this year, or at least challenging for a spot until the very end.

@rvacchianonydn: Of course he is. ... RT @nydnsports: BREAKING: Mets hurler Zack Wheeler likely headed to Tommy John surgery t.co/EcKUy7Y67rSeason hasn't even started yet and that two pitchers headed for TJ surgery. Pretty sure I saw that Edgin will miss the season yesterday.@

Amazing. If Im a team... any team... Im wary of signing pitchers to big money contracts until after their first Tommy John surgery... seems like they're all destined to have it and lose a year.

Mets can't catch a break. Would have maybe the best young pitching core in baseball if everyone was healthy but just not working out - sucks.

Makes you wonder if it is something the Mets are doing -- how they bring their pitchers along, training, scouting medcial staff -- or is it just dumb luck. Was reading a couple of articles earlier this week that there are some teams (Brewers, Giants, Mariners) who have had very few pitchers with TJ surgery and others (Mets, Dodgers, Rangers, Braves) who have had an awful lot. Is it just the luck of the draw or is there something we are doing with our young pitchers that puts them at risk. LInks to two articles are below: www.brewcrewball.com/2015/3/16/8224841/brewers-tommy-john-surgery-zack-wheelerespn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/10831700/is-mlb-midst-tommy-john-epidemic

I blame youth sports.

Is there something in a kid's delivery that makes him more susceptible to injury? Or is there a way for the medical staff to better understand if a kid is at risk? Or is it just dumb luck -- typical Mets bad luck.

Nice return for Harvey -- its like he never left. 6 shutout innings, 1BB 9K, 4H. Beautiful. Mets are at Wrigley for a four game set on the second week of May, definitely going to see Harvey take the mound.

Once I know the rotation for that week, I may need to make another trip out there unless Harvey Day falls on Thursday.
