Put it in the books. Mets win, Nats lose. 6 1/2 games up. Great job by Bart and I loved the way the lineup responded after thr bullpen nearly gave up the lead in the 8th.

Different guy every night. This time it was Carlos Torres. 9-5 in 13.

Yoenis Cespedes is also contributing in a big way, batting .361 with six homers and 15 RBI in the past seven contests. He played 51 games for the Red Sox (58-69) last year, batting .269 with five homers and 33 RBI before being dealt to Detroit in the offseason.Think our boy is going to want to show the Sox what they're missing out on?

Adam Rubin @adamrubinespn 5m5 minutes ago Hearing #Mets making progress on acquiring reliever. No guarantee something comes together, but tangible talks.
Kimbrel, maybe, or is that jsut a pipe dream? SD tried to get him through waivers the other day and someone claimed him. Any chance it could have been us and we are trying to work out a deal? WOuld be very un-Met like to take on his salary. But since we are not likely to have Cespedes next season, maybe we are taking our shot now.

That would be sweet!
I'd be surprised however. I can see it being a less costly move.
On another front...
"Starting pitcher Bartolo Colon will be available for an inning in the bullpen on Saturday for the Mets against Boston". per ESPN
Some Kimbrel info

We're basically set on pitching going forward.... Power hitters are our achilles heal. I'd rather they save the money and re-sign Cespedes.

I agree Kimbrel is a longshot. Apparently we claimed someone, not yet known who:
Edit:
Ken Rosenthal @ken_Rosenthal 3m3 minutes ago
Source: #lPadres pulled back Kimbrel from waivers yesterday. He is not the reliever the #Mets are trying to get.

Reed was money from '12-'14. Another young arm, not giving up much. I dont mind it, its another little move to improve depth.

1.65 ERA since coming back from the minors in late July, and arb-eligible for 2 more years.
This is SOP for the Mets... young, controlled, low risk, potential high reward?

I like that he has been a closer, so he is used to pitching in big spots in tight games. Going to be a lot of pressure on this team in September, hopefully, as a former closer, he is equipped to deal with it.

Yeah, it seems like we now have a pen full of former closers, or guys with some closing experience, so pressure should hopefully be handled.

Liking it much better than O'Flaherty and much less cost and prospects than Kimbrell. Hope it works out
