I had enough about midway through the 3rd when they were down 3-1. Not a good effort. Played the last 5 minutes of the 3rd period in their own zone -- gave up and killed off a 5 on 3. Early 3rd period, Viz turned the puck over in right in the slot, set Edmonton up for an easy goal. Add to that the goal Halak gave up in the first when he lost the puck behind the net -- tough to win on the road when you give up two bad goals. Halak kept them in it in the 2nd, especially during the 5 on 3, but it wasn't enought. Sloppy game, Edmonton was the better team last night. We deserved the loss. For sure - and I stayed up to watch that entire crapfest. Will probably do so again tonight as I'm a glutton for punishment. But, I'm not getting too wound up about it. Games like that happen over a season. And, even the worst teams in the league have the ability to win every game. If you don't come out with your A game, you probably will lose.
If they come back tonight and put forth a good effort, I'm perfectly content. You can't win every game.
Thinking of going to the Rock on Friday night. Anyone ever been? Not familiar with the seating - the 200s seem really high and not an option, but don't know what the story with the 100s are. Any input would be appreciated.
I agree. It is just one game out of 80 -- there are going to be nights where you don't play your best. I really liked our chances heading into the 3rd on Sunday night. We played like shit, had just survived a 5 on 3 and a pretty bad 2nd period, but somehow we were within one goal -- I thought we were in pretty good shape to play a strong final 20. Instead it looked a lot like the 2nd night of a back to back, we were slow, sloppy, on our heels and losing most of the puck battles. Edmonton played well. Isles didn't. As for tonight's game, I am really tempted to ignore the fact that it is even on. Afraid that if I start watching I will stay up for the whole thing, and I am too fucking old to stay up til midnight watching hockey and get up at 5:30 tomorrow to go to work. Gotta learn to skip these weeknight west coast games.

Never been to the Rock, but I hear it's real nice.
Also need info on your ticket guy, it got left behind on JI. Drop me a PM if you got a minute. Headin to the MLK game vs Flyers.

You want to stay in the lower bowl if possible. The center three sections on either side of the rink are club seats, and it's nice, but no food vouchers or anything are included with the ticket price. Just access.

Go on to Craigslist starting a week before the game and google "Islanders Flyers" or Islander tickets" and you'll see one guy post a bunch of ads for cheap tickets. His name is Mike. Prices are higher this year (not surprising) but you can still get good seats for a decent price. I just checked and there doesn't seem to be an ad up but that's on account of there not being any home games coming up. He usually posts them about a week prior.

I'm guessing prices will drop on the day of. Looking to get them under $100 so will probably have to be behind the net, which is fine.
They're finally gonna be in your (new) neck of the woods - gonna hit this game?

I'm thinking about it, but would rather take the fam out for at least one last pilgrimage to the old barn. When my kids were little I would get the matinee package (which they don't do anymore, very few home afternoon games) and they would let the families on the ice and the kids shoot pucks after the game. This was the early days of the rebuild when they drafted Okposo, Bailey and then JT. MY kids were tiny and are now teenagers. If I go Friday, it will likely be with a Devils fan friend of mine. We'll see.

Was not aware Viznovsky was hurt.
New York Islanders @nyislanders 6m6 minutes ago #Isles Transactions: Lubomir Visnovsky has been placed on IR (upper-body, retro to Jan. 4). Michael Grabner has been activated off IR.

I didn't see the game beyond 5 minutes of the first. Expected them to lose anyway. That's what makes the Edmonton loss sting a little more!
Up next, NJ. Who's playing much much better lately.

Halak between the pipes yet again and we will get to see the return of Strait. This goalie situation is worrisome with all of the games Halak has been playing. I wish we had a B/U that could pick up their game.
