So my boy was called up to the 'big' leagues after his hockey practice this morning. His first real game. The team he played on was a couple kids short. He had 0G 1A, and was a -3. Scored on his own team, too, on a pass across the crease... LOL. Their own goalie wasn't too good. Allowed 6 goals on about 14 shots... Otherwise, th e boy skated and stick handled just as good as the older kids, and played well for never having played or practiced with those guys. So I ask him after the game if he'd play again if they're short some players, and he goes 'yeah, as long as I don't have to play on the blue team. Their goalie sucks'. LOL. How old is your boy? I think every kid put one in his own net -- I know it happened to my son once or twice. He played for about 8 years until he graduated High School. When he was a senior, we didn't have enough D-men on the team and the coach moved him to D after never playing it before. He stunk up the joint that first game, until he had one opportunity to go end-to-end and scored an unassisted goal that turned out to be the game winner. The highlight of his career as a D-man. Rest of the season it was a failed experiment and he was eventually moved back to RW where he belonged. Now his gear just gathers dust and stinks up my basement. Enjoy it -- I had a blast watching him play. LOL - he's 7. funny you say that, it was when he was playng D when he put it in his own net. And that same shift the other team scored 3! They dnt put him at D the rest of the game. He played well at C, won every face off. it was a good day!

It happens to the best. Hopefully your son wasn't too upset. At age 7 I guess he will be playing mites. My son started a couple of years later than that - he was probably either 9 or 10. We had some great times watching him play, travelling to tournaments and made some good friends with the other hockey parents. Youth hockey was a great experience for all of us (except my daughter who was bored silly when we had to drag her to the games). Now, back to the big guys -- Isles v Rangers tomorrow night. After a week's break, I am really looking forward to this one.

I asked him last night what did he think of his first game, and he said "It was 79% good.".
Why 79? I have no idea.

Okposo out 6-8 weeks. Upper body injury.
Seemed fine at the Flyers game. Even said he practiced on Tuesday before the all-star break.

Who takes his spot in the lineup? CMcD?

Who takes his spot in the lineup? CMcD? I think Grabovski is healthy now. No need for C Mac or Conacher: Bailey-Tavares-Grabovski Lee-Nielsen-Strome Grabner-Nelson-Kulemin Martin-Cizikas-Clutterbuck

Haven't heard officially, but looks like the game is on for tonight.
Rumor on Okposo - retinal detachment. See,s too young for that, though.
