Never really been a fan of the shootout. I'd rather play 10 minute 4-4 OT, and then just call it a tie if no one scores. Maybe they adopt rule change next year and do the AHL deal.

Can't believe they didn't get 2 points out of that. They suck in the shootout lately. Its as if all of the breaks that they got early in the year are going against them now. I think that is three straight shootout losses. At least they got the point. Reversion to the mean.

It seems to me that no one is going to the front of the net for tip ins or deflections anymore. Lee and Nelson seemed to be getting a goal every other game on a shot from the point they deflect in. Now every shot seems wide open that the opposing goalie has no problems seeing. isles gotta get some bodies in front of the net, even just to screen the goalie a bit, and be there for a possible rebound.

Yup -- and the one goal we got yesterday -- came from Lee, KO & JT crashing the net ad winning a battle to a loose puck. Not happening often enough lately.

I just think it is more that this team is in an offensive slump. We can't beat goalies -- either in the shootout or in the game. Over the last two weeks, we have been getting 30+ shots per game, but struggle to score more than 1 goal. Offensive slump that carries over to the shootout.

Jumped the gun a bit with the post above^^^.
Pitt lost, Ottawa lost, Boston lost in OT. Still ahead of Pitt for 2nd and 8 point cushion on last playoff spot.

Meh, not much to say that hasn't already been said. One win in last 7 games?
Why they have such problems clearing the zone when they have possession is mind boggling. How many chances did they have to clear on the GWG?
Weak ass clearing attempts.
Clear it like you mean it, fuckin morons.

Perfect shit storm a brewin' too, huh?
Rangers look unbeatable, and Isles cant beat a rented mule.
As a Jets fan, though, I am accustomed to such douchebaggery.

As a Met fan, I can't help but think back to the 2007 & 2008 collapses, where we all assumed that a playoff spot was clinched, and a great season was completely undone with a horrible final month. Hopefully history does not repeat itself, but limping into the playoffs is not the way you want to start the postseason. Tough games at home against Anaheim and Detroit this weekend -- got to get at least two points, preferably more. Don't give a shit about what the Rangers are doing, but I am getting really nervous about the Isles.

On the bright side, this may just be the impetus needed to finally give Cappy the fucking boot.

6 points up on Boston -- Bruins have one game in hand. 8 points up on Ottawa -- Sens have three games in hand including one tonight.
Isles are not a lock for the playoffs -- I have gotten really nervous. They need to win some games. Starting tomorrow.
