So, Let me see if I have this straight. last year, the Rangers traded Ryan Callahan and their 2014 & 2015 1st round picks to Tampa.
In 2014, Tampa traded the 28th overall pick they acquired from the Rangers to the Isles and the Isles selected Josh Ho Sang. In 2015, Tampa again traded the 28th overall pick, also acquired from the Rangers to the Isles and the Isles selected Anthony Beauvillier. St. Louis is not likely to return to the Rangers.
So, as a result of that trade, Tampa has Callahan and a couple of picks, the Rangers have nothing and the Isles have two top prospects. Love it.

I like pretty much all the wheeling and dealing and drafting this weekend. Dealt from a position of strength (young D prospects) and kept filling up the pipeline of young forwards. Now you still have Pulock, Mayfield, and Pelech in the pipeline on D, and MDC, Ho Sang, Barzal and Bouvillier at F.
Those two guys for a guy who was losing his lustre a little bit, good value, Barzal is going to be a player. And you know we got the picks that the Rangers would have loved to get for Talbot.
Cant pay everyone down the road, so I think this is smart, keep the young guys coming up.
The third rounder, he's an interesting story... 5'10", 182, but plays D AND F, and has played F on the PK. Be interesting to see how he gets utilized when he's ready.
And another Pilon dressing for the Isles? Sign me up. He sounds like he should have gone much higher but dropped?

On Ryan Pilon, he was Pulocks linemate in the WHL, and apparently dropped because of the combine?
Sounds like he will be with the Wheat Kings one more season, then off to Bridgeport, like Pulock did?

The New York Islanders have extended qualifying offers to the following restricted free agents:
Kevin Czuczman
Mike Halmo
Anders Lee
Brock Nelson
Kevin Poulin
Johan Sundstrom
A qualifying offer retains negotiating rights to a team’s restricted free agents. If a team does not send a qualifying offer to one of their restricted free agents, he becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

And sounds like the Hickey contract is just about signed, so no QO there I guess.

Report: Isles, Hickey closing in three-year pact around $6.5M
Per Newsday’s sources, the contract extension is believed to be of the three-year variety, with Hickey pulling down “in the range of” $6.5 million total — a cap hit of around $2.16M.
For Hickey, 26, it’s a nice bump from the $675,000 he netted annually on his last deal.

With those two signings, I think that leaves them about 10.7 M in cap space. Then you have Brock's deal, plus a backup goalie. And maybe a top 4 defenseman?

1.5M a year for 2 yrs for a backup goalie, not bad.

1.5M a year for 2 yrs for a backup goalie, not bad. Agreed. And also Hickey at $2.2 is not too bad either.
