You are right - Greiss in net today. Didn't realize the next two are back-to-back. Would guess Halak gets nod for Caps and then Greiss in vs New Jersey. Put up or shut up for Halak vs Washington. Let's see if he rises to the occasion. Then if things stay to form, Greiss, Greiss and more Greiss. Looks like it will be Greiss tonight. This one surprises me, but I like the move. Ride the hot goalie.

I guess the other way to look at it - let Greiss sink or swim vs the league's best. If he plays really well, he's the #1. At least for now.

What's the isles game plan? Get a body on everyone else but ovechkin, because he can't do it all by himself?

Outshot 14-4 in the second period.
4 shots on Holtby is not the way to win a game.
and caps something like 31-0-1 when leading after 2.
probably shouldn't bother watching the third.

Hard earned point. Now to try to grab the 2nd one. Great shot by Franz.

Nice effort tonight -- happy with the point. But watching this team play in 3 on 3 is just brutal. We never control the puck, we are on our heels all through OT. Was just hoping we could find a way to the shootout. Still, trailing the Caps with 2 minutes left and coming away with a point is not too bad. Have to get two tomorrow night, big game against NJ.

Disagree. They were outplayed in the second, third, and OT. Lucky to get a point, IMO.
OT is just awful. Playing for defense isn't going to win you games in OT. One shot in OT. One.

Clearly they were outplayed in the 2nd and in OT. I thought they played a strong 1st period and the 3rd was about even. Still think they did a nice job to salvage a point against the best team in the league after being thoroughly dominated in the 2nd and surrendering the two early 2P goals. No settling for 1 tonight though. They need the two in Jersey.

Dunno, I thought they looked sloppy. Bad passes, trouble receiving a pass, a million stick checks instead of taking the body. Turnovers, can't clear their own zone when they had a chance.
Maybe it's just Washington is that good and forced them to play like that. They only mustered 22 shots on net. It'd be one thing if they shot 22 and won. Washington had 35 shots. Can't score if you don't shoot, or are too busy chasing the puck.

Got the shutout. didnt see the game, except the 5 min. major at the bar. Disappointed in the PP. how was the game? Highlights on NHLnetwork pretty much showed the Devils firing away after sloppy islanders play. Was that indicative of the whole game, or creative editing in the newsroom?

Creative editing. It was a fairly even game and I thought both teams played pretty well. Devs rung the post once and missed a few golden chances, but such is hockey. Bottom line: Huge win. A little more breathing room for the top 8 in the conference.

Got home in time for the 5 minute major and the 3rd period. 5 minute major was pathetic, just awful PP. 3rd period was tough to judge, they didn't really attack much, keeping 3 guys back at the blue line to protect the 1 goal lead. I usually hate that passive style, but I can't complain about this one -- 3rd period, road game, 1 goal lead, 2nd night of a back to back, and the strategy worked. Halak had to come up with some brilliant saves in the opening minutes of the period and in the closing minute, but he wasn't tested a whole lot in between. Nice bounce back performance from Halak after his struggles over the last couple of weeks.
