Would be nice to see them take it to Boston today. I feel like we haven't beaten them in forever. For some reason we can't beat the Atlantic which doesn't bode well for the next two games. I remember they whooped us pretty good at the Barclay early in the season. I was there. You were there. We had beers. The subway to grand central sucked. Wanted to smack the Bruins fans.

I had a feeling coach wouldn't have them pumped for today's game.

Yup. It was ugly today. And nothing was uglier than Brian Strait. He had a nightmare game. And Hickey was not much better. The turnovers in our own end, all game long, were inexcusable. Just a bad day.

Just a bad day. Strait was awful. But the big turning point was Boychuk inexplicably firing the puck up the glass with no pressure at all, the point guy holding it in which led to the 2nd goal. Once that happened we knew we were toast. Yesterday was a game you hoped we held on to for a point. I hope we right the ship tomorrow. One more loss and questions start popping up. Once again Strait sucks. He is somehow unable to just shoot the puck on net when it's right on his stick. I didn't realize pushing your stick in a forward motion was so difficult. Hurry up Calvin!

Hopefully just a bad day, but I have a feeling we'll be back to average .500 hockey for the next bunch of games.

From nhl.com-
Defenseman Calvin de Haan could return to the lineup either Monday or Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins, according to Newsday. De Haan, who has missed four straight games and nine of 11 with a lower-body injury, has skated the past several days. It's also possible goalie Jean-Francois Berube gets the start in the front end of a back-to-back set. Thomas Greiss has started the first two games since Jaroslav Halak was lost for 6-8 weeks with a lower-body injury, going 0-1-1 with a .910 save percentage. Berube made his first two NHL starts earlier this season, losing to the Chicago Blackhawks on Oct. 10 and defeating the Minnesota Wild on Feb. 2. His most recent appearance was in relief, Feb. 6 against the Detroit Red Wings. "There's no question he's a proven goalie in the American League and he's played some good games with us," coach Jack Capuano told the Islanders website. "I have confidence that when I put him in there he's going to do the job."

Aside: Jagr. Leads the panthers in scoring? Broke a few scoring records this year? Didn't he also lose a season and a half due to lockout? Pretty impressive, if so.

CdH is back in and Strait is back to the press box. Give Cappy some credit here. He didn't sit Pulock. I guess even he's not that dumb after Strait's performance on Saturday.
I like the Hickey/Pulock pairing as a 3rd pairing. Being that this kid is developing nicely, Pelech is coming back from injury hopefully by the time the playoffs roll around, Strait is so far from the ice he's watching it on a web stream.

What the fuck just happened. After sitting for two hours watching 2+ periods of crappy hockey, my wife asks if I mind if she changes the channel. I tell her this game sucks, I don't need to see any more of this shit tonight. Half hour later I get an alert on my phone that they fucking won. How did that happen? What did I miss?

DVRd the game. Watched the first until FLA scored. I knew it was all over, or so I thought. Zipped thru the rest of the first, intermission, the second, intermission, and zipped thru the third till they scored. Rewound and watched a good 7 minutes of hockey. Stole 2 points after that abysmal first (and apparently second) periods.

LOL I planned on watching the entire game but we ended up at a nice Italian restaurant. After that first period I said lets get the hell out of here, they're definitely losing and then this happens. I missed the 2nd and 3rd but enjoyed a nice meal.
