Even if this was true (I believe it's not), it still would have no relevance for the Jets future to play Fitzpatrick this year without giving Geno a shot to run this offense in the regular season. Geno began the year as the starter, and his play on the practice field cemented his role there. If you take out Punchgate, which is the only reason why Geno finds himself on the bench, no other team would keep a backup as limited as Fitzpatrick in the starting role beyond just one more poor performance. I think the fact they are sticking with the back up in this case - tells us what (at least some of us) already know. Geno doesn't deserve another shot. HGeno was named the starter before the season started until he got his jaw broken. What has happened between then and now to make them decide he shouldn't be the starter, again?

is it the time? Is it the junction point of the season where Mr. Petty dons the coat of the starting qb? Is it.... Petty Coat Junction? Not like I'm a fucking expert on comedy myself but even I can say that was pretty lame. lol.

H Geno was named the starter before the season started until he got his jaw broken. What has happened between then and now to make them decide he shouldn't be the starter, again? I feel that this is crucial. Something people are missing here is a potential narrative, which the NFL loves whether they be set up on purpose or by accident. The current coaching staff showed that they have no loyalty to Smith this off season. They traded for Fitz. They drafted Petty in the fourth, which is arguably high enough to indicate long term plans. He wasn't owed ANYTHING. Going into the preseason, he was named the starter. Due to circumstances discussed ad nauseum, we won't reiterate, but it created still perhaps the best situation that we could have asked for. If you're going to switch, you're going to switch at the Bye week. If you're going to give up on Geno, you've got to at least see what he can do. If you're going to give up on Fitz you've got to at least see what we can do. Fitz we know what we have and it was on displayed. Geno we know what he can do but know that mistakes are mental, and the adjustments at the line and reading of defenses are also mental weaknesses. I reference Kanye West's broken jaw and his song through the wire. Without the broken jaw maybe Kanye never has the drive to succeed and learn to improve. Geno may very well have been learning how to audible how to do cadence how to read defenses how to lead a locker room how to text plays with team mates etc from Fitzpatrick. Hell BMarsh was all in on Geno after living with him. If he started the season he may never have had to go back to the drawing board to self reflect. He may come out of this better than ever for the rest of his career. Or not. Please god let us make the playoffs.
