That's just stupid. And Rex is gone. Get over it and move on man. With a good HC we're heading back to the days of 9-7 and maybe some occasional playoff trips. I'd rather have the guy who struck fear in the hearts of the best QBs in the NFL. I'd rather have on my sideline the guy who Bill Belicheck and Tom B. see in their nightmares. I'd rather have as my head coach the guy who, with a good roster, takes a team into Indianapolis and beats Peyton Manning at his peak. At best dude, we're heading back to the Herm Edwards days of slightly above average. Hyperbole. I can accept if you think Rex was part of the solution. But the same things were being said when people we looking to grab Bruce Arians. He turned out alright in AZ. And what exactly have we been over the last 4 years JS? I'd say firmly below average as a team.

Did nobody else pick up on Woodys response when asked if the GM was going to be hired before the coach? It sounded to me like if Casserly and Wolf found a HC they liked they would hire him first and then get the GM. Fuckin Woody still hasn't learned a thing.Someone else also pointed out about Woody getting hit with tampering charges when asked about Revis and he said he'd love to have him back. This guy. So? That's EXACTLY what he should do. Let the FOOTBALL people do their FOOTBALL jobs. Casserly/Wolf can(and will) find a better HC than when Woody made the attempt. I trust their judgement way more than I trust Woody's. That's bullshit. Hire the GM and let him pick his own guy. We just went thru this with the Idzik/Rex fiasco.

Sure, fire Idzik, replace the CBs, try to find a #2 WR, upgrade the QB.....but why get rid of Sheldon Richardson or Jeremy Kerley or Rex Ryan or Demario Davis? Keep the things that give you a chance to win. Keep the things have shown, in the right circumstances, they contribute to winning.

Here's my views on Woody's pc, I've never actually felt better about his ownership than right now. I think he was honest, open, and on point. Listen, I hate the fact that Rex is gone, but he had to go under the circumstances, and those circumstances are now clearly placed at Idzik's feet. Idzik wrecked the Jets season, the fact that he was not told to not spend, the fact that he has had two horrific drafts, the fact the Woody would have been willing to go again with Revis, the fact he gave Rex nothing to work with, and the fact that Woody realized this all and is not going to waste another season should make us all feel better about him as an owner.
One move alone, signing Revis, would have put this season in a whole new place. Let's forget Revis for a second, what the hell was he saving the cap money for? Woody sees this, and apparently knows more football than many here are willing to give him credit for, fundamentals, managing (yes giggles about that comment are silly, that is exactly what a HC should be, I've been saying that for years).
Having Wolf and Caserly on board are fantastic moves, being pro active is great, there will be no excuses laid at ownership's feet with the next regime, unless someone right now wants to tell me there is a better route for Woody to be taking at the moment. He's right about the team also, they are pros, they understand the game is short, they will not lose anyone they don't want to lose. A great organization starts with a great owner, and today I think Woody takes a step in that direction.

Yeah because they were all shitting their pants while beating the under .500 Jets and scoring at will with 2:00 left in the half. Or were they shitting their pants while throwing all of the interceptions and pick 6's? Or was it on all of the strip sacks? I can't keep track because there were SO many over the past few years.

Let's make this analogous: After this year Richardson begins to slowly drift downward in production. The line continues to play well, however. Some of the pieces change and his stats fall downward with a few flashes of what he initially showed us. Eventually Wilk leaves two years from now ( year 4 for sheldon in this timeline). The DL is average with him in year 5, and then is an absolute cluster in year 6. Would you continue to build around him as a center piece. It's apples and oranges don't you think?

That billboard was an embarrassment to Jets fans. Fans don't have the influence you think they do. Not even close. That billboard was a waste of money that could have went to a better cause. Anybody fan trying to take credit for Idzik getting fired is an idiot IMO. Of course fans have no influence.....That's why Woody ended up giving Idzik the boot. Right? ![(zzz)](http://i.imgur.com/hj4VmKj.gif) Give me a break. If the Fans didn't put up that "embarassment", Idzik might still be here and the only one fired would've been Rex. The billboards had 0 to do with Idzik getting canned. Idziks lousy performance got him fired, and Woody finally realized that getting a HC/GM combo that can work together makes sense. Although this "hire the HC, then the GM thing" we're hearing scares me. Let the football guys hire both, but doesnt it make more sense to hire the GM first, unless youre bringing in a superstar HC, which I dont see out there?

Bad news for the top leeches at Korn Ferry. I hope Woody skewers them often. What a group of dipshits.
That said; a guy that makes deals for skyscrapers needs to review how his trust was so easily breached. Can't trust anybody.

Agreed, that's the only reason Rex had to go IMO. The misfire on the hiring of John Idzik not only destroyed the roster but forced the Jets to fire a good HC because they simply wouldn't be able to upgrade the GM while keeping Rex.

His hire was likely secondary to the impetus to keep Ryan that offseason. What you are missing is that there was never a good option of keeping him. Not this year and not two years ago. Only a mediocre GM was going to accept having to keep Ryan as a contingent for coming aboard. Franchise got what it deserved given the botched parameters of the search.

The DL is average with him in year 5, and then is an absolute cluster in year 6. Would you continue to build around him as a center piece. It's apples and oranges don't you think? So you're saying that we should be surprised if we degrade the talent around Sheldon Richardson and he doesn't perform as well? I'm not sure that argument supports the point. If Rex was the problem then why is a GM being fired after only 2 years? If a first-time GM was providing the tools to win to the head coach then why is that GM fired so quickly? The Jets had a roster capable of 6 wins last year and won 8 games. They had a roster capable of 6 wins this year and won 4. I put the fault on the fact that the HC has only been given a roster capable of 6 wins for consecutive years. I don't look at the fact that the Minnesota OT game was winnable, that Nick Folk caused a 1-point loss to New England last week, that the Jets lost 16-13 to Miami with a QB that had both hands tied behind his back....and say that we could easily have been a 6 or 7 win team this year with a bounce of the ball here and there. The fact of the matter is that John Idzik wrecked the franchise in multiple ways - Wasting 12 draft picks in the deepest draft in a decade, leaving $ on the table that could been used to shore up major roster holes, and now leaving the Jets no choice but to fire the best coach they've had since 1999 because they couldn't fix the Idzik blunder without letting the HC go. I have mixed emotions. It's like being happy to find out that a serial killer died in a car accident.....then you realize he was driving your new Ferrari. We had to sacrifice Rex to correct the Idzik mistake. I'll get over it, but I just have little confidence in the ability of the organization to ever get things right. We've been trying to beat the Pats for over a decade with Herm Edwards, Eric Mangini and then Rex Ryan at coach. When we're finally able to beat them we start to undermine the head coach and degrade the roster, then we fire the Head Coach who can't beat Tom B. while using Geno Smith at QB and two dudes at Cornerback that nobody has ever heard of.
