Trump is going to ask Congress to appropriate money for the wall. I.E. You and I (unless you're Mexican) are paying for this I'm shocked Mexico isn't going to be paying for this wall that kind of already exists. Maybe we'll settle for a suitcase full of i.o.u.'s from mexico. That's kind of like them paying for it. So the swamp isn't drained and we're paying for the wall. At least America will hopefully be great again, once we figure out exactly what that even means. Sure is catchy though.

Wall pays for itself once we tilt the trade deficits with Mexico a little back to our favor. And off the books jobs taken by illegals who send the money back to Mexico tax free go bye-bye.

I'll gladly help pay for the wall
I'd rather my tax dollars go towards something useful instead of arming fuckheads in Syria like Obama and Hillary were so gung-ho on.

All of a sudden liberals are concerned with $8 billion in spending. Obama ran trillion dollar deficits. We have a $58 billion yearly trade deficit with Mexico. We cut into that by just 10% and the wall is paid for in 2 years.

I rarely venture into this part of the site and, after perusing through this thread, it seems like a smart move. I'm not shocked in the least that Trump is asking Congress to pay for the wall, his funding proposal was patently ridiculous from the moment he offered it. I'm not paying for that fucking wall and I will protest my ass off to make sure it does not happen.

The fact that the debt increased under the prior administration doesn't support increasing it even further.

Nothing is black and white and not all spending is equal. We are talking trillion dollar programs under Obama versus an $8 billion wall. I support "the wall" and think it will be a good investment. I also think universal Pre-K is a good investment. I also support free breakfast and lunch in schools.

Why do you believe the wall is a good investment? Because I believe it will significantly impede illegal immigration as well as the flow of narcotics.

Thats Washington math. And that deal had tax hikes with the promise of reduction in spending. Like most of those deficit reduction plans have. But when has Washington ever reduced spending? If they were real about it the tax increases and cuts needs to come at the same time. Because in Washington "cuts" means a decrease to the rate of increase.

The point is he promised to make Mexico pay for the wall and now all of us have to pay for it. It was his first big campaign promise and now it's already changed before he's even in office. A lot of his campaign promises didn't make sense, but people bought into it. He's going to do everything and it's all going to be great. Didn't matter if it seemed possible or not and people ate it up. Now he's already backing out of this "mexico is paying for it" promise, so what's next?
