Ignorance. To think that there are 6+ Billion people on the planet and every single one is born 100% male or female flies is the face of simple reproductive biology. I'd prefer these folks live their lives as they please. Rather than 1. Be miserable. 2. Kill themselves. "According to surveys, 4.6 percent of the overall U.S. population has self-reported a suicide attempt, with that number climbing to between 10 and 20 percent for lesbian, gay or bisexual respondents. By comparison, 41 percent of trans or gender non-conforming people surveyed have attempted suicide." Call them mentally ill. call them freaks, whatever. Who are the hurting? |

I said on this topic he is showing his ignorance by calling this a mental illness. It is far more than that. Categorizing it at such shows a real limited understanding of the factors at play. (As does making this a "SJW" issue.) The American Psychiatric Association says gender nonconformity is not mental disorder. If you know better then them...rock on. And TBH, not interested in an internet kerfuffle with you on the rest. |

Thats your interpretion of Making a Man...I'd have to read the interior. Gender is complicated. Involving mental AND biological AND societal factors. |

I'm not naive enough to believe that cant happen, but I've never seen any evidence from them that they operate like that. And they are echoed by many other sources. You are free to disagree of course. So gun to head, I'll go with them in this case...with added information from actual people I know and trust. Aside from hermaphrodites where there is a clear biological anomaly, humans are genetically programmed to be male or female. You don't think their mind telling them otherwise is related to mental health? And who are they hurting? Are you comfortable knowing your teenage daughter could be using a public bathroom at the same time as some pervert because he "identifies" as female and no one wants to tell him to fuck off to the men's room because it might hurt his feelings? |
