When you are about to gut your roster and finally commit to a rebuild, the last thing you do is take a RB in the draft. Not in the First Round. Not in Any Round. RB's have a notoriously short shelf life. Taking a RB in 2017 would waste two prime years of the RB's career because the Jets will be very bad in 2017, and at best competitive in 2018. They need so much help all over the field and have a serviceable tandem in Forte and Powell. No need to take a RB when the roster is filled with gaping holes at CB, FS, LT, and TE.
I expect the Jets to pick Malik Hooker if they stay at 6 with the intent of penciling him in at FS from for the next 10 seasons. If they don't go with Hooker at 6 I would imagine they would go with a CB -- either Marshon Lattimore or or Sidney Jones.

Some sick part of me wants us to draft Soloman Thomas just to continue the trend of watching the jets boards blow up draft night. Realistically we all know its going to be a DB. We will cut Revis and have to fill his spot ( Unless we sign Gillmore in FA).
I really hate the notion of another high pick on a DB. This team is so completely lifeless and a DB does nothing for this team any time soon.

Other CB's did the same for their team -- Darrell Green, Lester Hayes, Deion Sanders, etc... And this is even more true for Safties who have had long, face of the franchise type careers -- Ed Reed, Rodney Harrison, Ronnie Lott, Brian Dawkins, John Lynch, Steve Atwater, Rod Woodson, Troy Polomalu, etc... I have no problem with the Jets taking a DB at 6.

Some think Lattimore is the best, some think it's Tabor, some think it's Humphrey, some think it's Quincy Wilson or Sidney Jones, etc. I don't see any of them being worthy of the #6 pick. I certainly wouldn't take any of them over a Fournette who possesses batshit crazy upside along the lines of an Adrian Peterson or Bo Jackson. This is a really defensive heavy draft. So for once I wish the Jets would grab a legit offensive playmaker (Fournette/Williams/Howard) in the 1st round and build up the D for the rest of the draft for all I care.

Some evaluators don't even rank LF as the best RB in THIS draft?

Some evaluators don't even rank LF as the best RB in THIS draft? And I disagree completely Just like the assholes who thought that RG III was a better prospect than Luck. Totally overthinking it. Dalvin Cook is a nice player and certainly 1st round worthy, but there's no way I'd take him over Fournette. And that's not even taking into account his fumbling issues or the company he reportedly keeps around him. RB's with the power, size and speed combo of Fournette are extremely rare. I don't think he has the pure vision of Peterson or that extra wiggle that Peterson exuded in his prime, but he's hands down the best RB prospect to come out since AP if you ask me. And he's the perfect example of BPA matching an area of need. Forte is 32 and slow as balls and Powell is about to be 29 and has always been a complimentary back. We could certainly do a lot worse than adding a powerhouse to the backfield, especially while we're still trying to figure out the QB situation.

I like my RB's with a little wiggle, I believe it extends careers. How long did Bo play? AP had 7 great seasons then basically missed 2 of the next 3 seasons. Fournette could make sense, but the Jets won't be any good until his third season, at best. Personal issues aside, I prefer RBs in the physical mold of Cook - a threat in running and passing game like Marshall Faulk, LT, Matt Forte, but I don't think Cook has the football mind of these guys. I'd pass on RB. I think when building a team a RB is a final piece, not a primary building block.
