If both Fournette and Adams are gone and the Jets are stuck at #6, then like sec101 said, you take Howard.
Only other prospects that really make sense at that spot are Hooker and Lattimore and I want nothing to do with drafting a CB at #6 who has chronic hamstring issues.
So to me, it's either Howard or Hooker.
Can't say I'd be displeased with Hooker. He's still a bit raw and will take a few bad angles in the running game, but there's no denying his potential as a pure centerfielder. His range and instincts in coverage are already special despite playing the position for a limited time.
But Howard has crazy potential on the offensive side. The more I've watched of him, the more I agree with the experts who are calling him the best TE prospect in a decade. Great size and he knows how to use it to box out defenders, great athlete, good hands, solid route runner, probably the best inline blocking TE in this class, etc.
Even if Howard doesn't become the next Gronk, I think he'll be a rock at the position for the next decade. And considering the shit we've had to endure at TE for the last 25 years essentially...I'll take that.

And I like that. At least from an entertainment stand point, Thursday should be a pretty fun night. Not only could I see the Jets going about 6 different directions at #6(or trading), outside of #1, I don't think there is any real certainty anywhere in the first round. Could be a lot of "didn't see that coming" moments. Think about the worst possible scenario for the Jets....then you'll know EXACTLY what's going to happen ;-) 1. Browns - Myles Garrett 2. 49ers - Jonathen Allen or Solomon Thomas 3. Bears - Jamal Adams 4. Jags - Leonard Fornette 5. Titans - Malik Hooker 6. No trade back offers....Jets stuck deciding whether or not to draft an oft injured CB in Lattimore or the bpa - another Defense lineman- Solomon Thomas/Jonathan Allen (depending on who SF takes)

Guys that big don't move like him. I can draft an athletic corner every year, 6'6" TEs who run the way the way he does don't come around often. I'm not saying I disagree about the corner part, I'm just not sold that Howard is some ultra rare athlete. His best attribute is his height. He moves very well for that height, but there are better athletes than him in this class that are also tall.I also just think Howard will be mediocre. Everyone blames Alabama's coaching staff for not knowing how to use him. I don't buy that. I just don't like taking an offensive player at 6 that was as non existent at times as he was. That's not just because how a coaching staff used him. I really disagree with that part. Howard is the best athlete at TE to come out since Vernon Davis. He is 6'6", 250lbs and was among the best at the 40, bench, 3 cone, 20 yard and 60 yard. He has the quickness and agility to become a great route runner, Alabama just didn't develop him. The only thing that scares me about Howard is that some are questioning his desire.

Even Vernon Davis has had an up and down career. As for REddick, I would barf if he was the choice at 6. WAY too risky.

I am so friggin perplexed with this year's 1st round. I don't know what I want! I just hope Big Mac finds a trade partner. There are alot of players in the 10 to 15 range that I can digest taking.

I feel the same way. There are some guys I definitely do not want, but I can't figure out who my first choice would be. I want an offensive playmaker, but not rally sure which one -- just can't get excited over the two safeties. I think we will come away with Hooker, but not sure how I will feel about that.

I'm fully onboard the OJ Howard train. Adams or Hooker would be OK too.

Even if they're amazing it only happens 5-10 times a year, unless the player is so mediocre at everything. Peppers is to small to be a LB and he's doesn't have the coverage skills to be a S. He's a so so RB, and an ok returner. Why spend a 2nd round pick on one guy that doesn't excel at anything when I can find 4 guys in the late rounds and UDFA that can do one of those things better. If he we took him in the 3rd or later I'd get it and accept it.

I agree with his list and your objection but I wouldn't replace him with Watt. Too many knee injuries for my liking and it will ultimately push him down.......or at least it should. My replacement for Peppers would be ? Tough year for predictions because this draft is deep but lacks the premier positions at the top.
