Turns out he had a fake ID. Thats how he got around e-Verify. Isn't the point of verifying to weed out the fake IDs? Start punishing the employers. Agreed. Some individual at the employer gets the ID and documentation from the person, and then inputs it at the e-Verify site. Hold that person and company responsible for not doing their due diligence prior. If an underage kid gets into a bar using someone else's ID, we hold the bar responsible. Same thing. Put big time penalties in place for stuff like this, and companies wont risk taking a chance.

Making sure they can't get jobs by severely punishing the employers is the easiest way to disinsentivize illegal immigration. You have to make the punishment much worse than paying reasonable wages to legal people. Honestly I don't care if that cuts the margins either. Yet another issue with a minimum wage. 1. Punish Employers 2. Shut down the gravy train of handouts. Watch the pipeline dry up real fast. Wouldn't even need a wall.

So... congress doesn't have the balls to fix it and it is absolutely THEIR job. The IRS issues the illegals ID numbers, our FED and state governments provide them free services and even pay for radio and TV ads to attract the illegals but you believe the stop measure should be the employers? Never happen. Companies such as restaurants, small businesses of less than 100 employees do not have the technology available to vet out illegals. God forbid they vet one out and then they are hit with a law suit backed by the ACLU. Sounds great DDNY and I am usually in LOCK STEP with you but it won'r solve a thing. Me? I say let them in , NO benefits for 5 years nothing. No welfare, medicaid etc. But NO politician will sign any bill allowing illegals to be legal without a presidential bill. Agreed that the govt needs to tighten things up too, but if an employee presents me a fake ID and info, where everything matches info for another, legal individual, which is how Im assuming they would pass e-verify, and I dont verify picture ID, etc, and enter valid data into the system, then the gov't is just going to pass them. Someone has to be the gatekeeper and that's the employer themselves who is face to face with the prospective employee. We hold businesses responsible for not verifying ID for alcohol or cigarette sales, why not this as well? At the end of the day, the employer didnt verify that whatever name this guy used was actually Cristhian Rivera and wasnt who he said he was. Youre on to something with the no benefits thing... de-incentivize people from coming here by not giving them freebees.

Just keep the savages out. If restaurants have to pay more dishwashers then raise the prices on the menus.

And keep them out. But we all know that's not 100% foolproof.

And put your money where your mouth is. Plenty of lazy people willing to hire undocumented workers to mow their lawns and clean their houses, but rail against illegal immigration.

ALL respect, you simply would put the businesses under.

From all we hear this "person" passed the E system. It is NOT the private sectors job. This is congress's job. How could a a 12 person restaurant or 50 person factory have the resources to do what the FEDS won't. It simply doesn't work.

No different than a mob front. OK, at least your brutally honest. When they go under and all we have are LARGE chains and prices go WAY up, the poor will suffer even more. Walmart benefits the poor greatly. The wages this illegal was making wasn't the issue but I admire that you walk off the Bernie Sanders plank.

Stay home and cook or eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Yes we spend the most on education. The dept of ED was founded in 1976. Since inception ... we have dropped like a stone. Govt involvement almost guarantees failure.
