If you could read my mind love, what a tale my thoughts could tell. As someone who spent a majority of his life around the darker side of society, if you only knew what the criminal enterprise is packing you would be astonished. Now with all this shit going on, with the cops. Who knows what the future brings with that or the radical Muslims. Let me tell you this. Life is not the Movies operation break up brunch could turn into operation break up houses. And unlike the movies, the police can not be everywhere at once, and there are no heroes coming to save you. Think about it. 8 9 maybe 20 people trying to get in your house with bats guns whatever. Kids crying wife terrified. You going out on your knees, Or you defending whats yours ,the people that at their basic core look to you as their protector. Not the police not the army you. Wake up. No matter how bad people want to make gun ownership sound, nothing is worse then that. Nothing. One good guy with a gun can save countless lifes.

I usually steer clear of these subjects but I’ll throw my hat in the ring, for perspective from a foreigner.. I don’t know one person who owns a gun (friend, family, co worker..). If I had to guess, I’d say everyone I know doesn’t know someone who owns a gun. I’d probably have to go to 3rd or 4rth circle of acquaintances before finding someone who owns a gun. Personally, I like that. All gay jokes aside: would you rather live in a society like the one I just described or one where everyone is armed to the gills? Until the day someone that is armed is a threat to you or someone you love.

If a bad guy has the element of surprise your gun isn't really going to help you.

If a bad guy has the element of surprise your gun isn't really going to help you. and if they aren't as ninja-like as these guys then it gives you something to even the playing field a bit. I didn't say that having a gun will rescue you and your family from every situation. Just that if you are up against someone with a gun your chances are a lot better with a gun than without, supplies or not.

I, like you, recently became interested in guns. I take safety seriously and keep ammunition locked safely away from the guns. I would love to get a 686, but cannot find one. Am considering a Ruger GP100 with 4" barrel as a substitute. I like that it doesn't have the trigger lock. Both are nice looking guns, but I like the S&W better. I bought my factory new 686-6 a year ago off of Gunbroker for $800 after shipping and FFL fees, because I could not find one locally. If I had to do it again I would of bought a used one in 4" rather then the 6" that I got. Probably would of saved $175. The Smith&Wesson forum is awesome and they have a classified section, that is where I will buy my next Smith, possibly. I did not go the Ruger route because I wanted the awesome 686 trigger.

Just popped in this thread. Sort of my question. The second amendment says the right to bear arms. So what about grenades? RPGs? Stinger AA missiles? Where is the cutoff to bear arms? A nuke is an arm, are we able to have those too? =================================================== Good question, I do not advocate citizens having AA missiles and such. Just what ever police can have. Which is pretty much what we have now. I don't know if civilians can own stun grenades, but yes on a smoke grenade. ======================================= Well you kinda know me and I own guns, Jetworks and 32 both own guns. But I understand you mean friends and such in France. Here I grew up around guns and it doesn't bother me much. But I also think we have a long way to go with firearms education. Did you see the sheriff that shot himself 2x in a week on YouTube. Now, I know there are millions of responsible gun owners who teach their kids well...but I also think guns have recently been elevated to a point where young people think of them as "toys" or something to show off with. They don't learn to respect weapons from a young age...they see them in TV and movies and think that's how you handle them. They also falsely think guns give them "power". A young person with a weapon without the proper understanding of what a gun is for, is a dangerous combination. I wish there was some way to handle this...but if you mention it you get some gun owners screaming at you about gun control. ========================================== I believe in gun control. My problem there are too many gun control laws, the majority of don't make sense, I have a problem with how gun laws are some times enforced. I don't agree with the NRA on all of there decisions, but there core policies fall along with mine. We should teach children at an early age about fire arm safety first and foremost, then as they get older teach them how a fire arm works more in depth. This should also be part of school curriculums, I took hunters safety in HS my freshman year. school had a shooting range under the auditorium.

A nuke is an arm, are we able to have those too? No. We should use common sense. And I know the definition of common sense differs from person to person. I do not believe civilians should have grenades, RPGs, full-automatic weapons, 100-round drums, certain types of ammunition, etc. I am not against semi-auto AR15 type guns or 30-round mags. I think here in NY Cuomo passed a law outlawing anything over 7 rounds but that was overturned federally b.c that was basically an outright ban b.c few guns have less than 7 round mags. I think the biggest problem we have in this country is that people do not respect firearms, especially kids who are basically desensitized to their lethality b.c of video games and television. We don't respect much in general but that is a discussion for another thread.

Relevance? I respect the douche that was organizing protests for at least being willing to see it from the other side. I also like that the same douche that was organizing protests and calling for the cops badge shot the guy when he just entered his space. Didn't have to deal with a thug wrestling for his gun in a real life situation. He shot when he knew he was safe just because the guy was in his space.

Just an example of people who with no training and/or understanding of what may happen if you possess a gun and take action with it. Completely different than shooting at a piece stationary paper.

There is no such thing as gun control. There are justt laws that violate freedoms. If you are in your house and someone intrudes, so you want the government telling you how many rounds you need or would you like to detemine that yourself. The answer to how many rounds you needs is as many as it takes. Do you want someone to tell you which gun you can own, the answer is the one that you need. It is proven that states with conceal carry or even open carry have less gun violence. There has never been a mass shooting at a gun store, bank, or police station. I am sure all the pussies that do these mass shootings are aware there are guns there. I f you want people to respect guns, make them lake a class in school on guns, remove the mystery and shootings would go down.

But the rest of your post is pretty much what I said in the post of mine that you quoted, other then the home protection angle. So preach on brother, I am with you.

If the second amendment is to ensure we could topple our government if we had to...Then we're gonna get our fucking asses kicked if we dont have anything more than little pew pew guns.
