I assume we can now talk about or promote gun ownership now that the move has been made to the new platform? I got as far as filling out the paperwork for the license but haven't gotten it to the police station yet. NJ is so much fun! <edit> Should have dragged my feet this much when getting the marriage licence!

What do you want to talk about? ============================================== Nothing at the moment, there was something a couple of weeks back about guns, but I forgot.

How about that baby shooting her Mom at Walmart huh?
Is that what you're looking for?

How about that baby shooting her Mom at Walmart huh? Is that what you're looking for? ============================================== That was just heart braking on all levels, my heart goes out to that family. So no. WTF? You've seen me post before, I like to post in a reasonable fashion and discuss reasonably what ever the topic may be if I have any knowledge of the topic at hand. If I don't know what I am talking about I try to remain a lurker. Often I will stick my foot in my mouth, and I don't like that but I try to be a man an admit when I am wrong. As I have said in the past, I became (in my eyes) to old to continue falling off my motorcycle in the woods and decided to sell the bikes and gear and roll the proceeds of the sales into hand guns which I have always been fascinated with, a new hobby. As I began searching and deciding on firearms to purchase I also began to study the laws in regards to firearms, and thus I acquired a new found passion for the 2nd amendment and just guns in general. Most on this forum could care less about a S&W 686 or my newest, a Ruger Security Six 357 magnum low back. So I take most every opportunity I get to defend and promote the 2nd amendment first at JI and now here. God help me, but I like the political mix and the posters here. So here is a subjectI believe in constitutional carry and feel there should be no need for the Govt. to decide whether I can or can not carry a gun any where at any time, except on private propertywhere the owners of the private property say I can't. What say you?

I, like you, recently became interested in guns. I take safety seriously and keep ammunition locked safely away from the guns. I would love to get a 686, but cannot find one. Am considering a Ruger GP100 with 4" barrel as a substitute. I like that it doesn't have the trigger lock. Both are nice looking guns, but I like the S&W better.

If people have the right to carry a gun...why not also a hand grenade?

If people have the right to carry a gun...why not also a hand grenade? Just popped in this thread. Sort of my question. The second amendment says the right to bear arms. So what about grenades? RPGs? Stinger AA missiles? Where is the cutoff to bear arms? A nuke is an arm, are we able to have those too? p.s. - don't misread me, I'm all for responsible gun ownership.

I usually steer clear of these subjects but I’ll throw my hat in the ring, for perspective from a foreigner..
I don’t know one person who owns a gun (friend, family, co worker..). If I had to guess, I’d say everyone I know doesn’t know someone who owns a gun. I’d probably have to go to 3rd or 4rth circle of acquaintances before finding someone who owns a gun. Personally, I like that.
All gay jokes aside: would you rather live in a society like the one I just described or one where everyone is armed to the gills?

What say you? I agree 100%. (i should of added a smiley) But I also think we have a long way to go with firearms education. Did you see the sheriff that shot himself 2x in a week on YouTube. Now, I know there are millions of responsible gun owners who teach their kids well...but I also think guns have recently been elevated to a point where young people think of them as "toys" or something to show off with. They don't learn to respect weapons from a young age...they see them in TV and movies and think that's how you handle them. They also falsely think guns give them "power". A young person with a weapon without the proper understanding of what a gun is for, is a dangerous combination. I wish there was some way to handle this...but if you mention it you get some gun owners screaming at you about gun control.
