Per Arthur Staple, LL plans to waive Fritz, Ho Sang, and Hickey today. Be interesting to see who gets through waivers and goes to Bridgeport. I would guess Fritz and Hickey (salary reasons) make it through, and Ho Sang gets claimed by someone willing to take a flier. I should have asked Lou personally when I ran into him in the stairwell after the preseason game in Bridgeport on Saturday night. We were leaving the game after the 4-2 Islanders win. He's a tiny dude. Like barely taller than Stokes tiny. I’d say hickey will get claimed. Not a bad 7th D or even a 6th for a team in need. Montreal? Hi Sangs a small time punk, IMO. His passive aggressive quotes about playing in the system, and then his play on the ice was totally “see? No offense from me when I play your way” |

They all passed through waivers. Im guessing the length of Hickeys contract probably scared teams off. And Ho Sang is a fuck head. Potential only goes so far. Fritz is a nice "tweener" depth guy to have, to be able to call up in case of injury.
Looks like only two players got claimed across the whole league - I guess most teams have their rosters set, so to claim someone means waive someone else.

Thank god for the Islanders. Five wins in a row, with Ottawa and Philly up next. At least one of the teams I root for has a good coach and knows how to win. Possibly.

7 in a row, and second place behind Washington. After having to hear all offseason how the Isles would suck, and the Rags and Devils and even the Flyers made huge leaps... I love seeing Philly, Rangers, Devils in 6/7/8 place  Fucking Isles, only sports related things that bring me joy anymore. |

Mad props to the kid behind the counter at Subway today for lunch. Ordered a foot long cold cut combo, $5.99. Kid sees my Islanders hat, says “you’re an islanders fan?” I said yeah, expecting some snarky comment. He says they’re looking real good, exciting to watch, Barzal looks awesome, that’s his favorite player. I go to pay, and the cash register guy says ‘whatta ya got?’ and the kid says “two six inch cold cut combos”. Rings up for $4.23 total.
it’s a small win, but I’ll take it.
