Marr was not only an Irishman willling to sacrifice a tremendous amount for his home country of Ireland but fought and served with extreme bravery for the Union in the civil war. It's good history and the literary worth of the book is excellent, even if you hate the Irish. It has nothing to do with Boston and. in fact, he commands the NY contingent in the civil war. Try it, it might give you a some insight into the New York of the 1800's. As for me, I can't get the Irish out of my bones as they are 99% Irish and I descend from one of the original eight tribes of Ireland.
PS: All of this is predicated upon the fact that you can read and can comprehend sentences and paragraphs. There are pictures too!
