This stupid team....we can't even win the Super Bowl Of Losing
Although Im convinced TLaw would find a reason to go back to Clemson and pull a Peyton Manning just to fuck us anyway

There is a zero scenario where I want to move forward with Darnold, and even with two victories back to back his glaring weaknesses are on full display. He'll never win it all, so why bother. Regarding the 2nd pick I'm very torn at the moment but it will become clearer in the next few months. As much as I love Sewell I think selecting him would be a bad allocation of resources because you're basically drafting a RT second overall. If Becton struggled I could get the reasoning but Becton will be the best LT in the league next year. We need a QB desperately and we have the second pick....we have to draft one early even if we trade down a few slots. I can't take watching another season with Darnold steering the ship, regardless of the coaching changes. Think of Becton as the RT at 11. Everyone is sliding their premier pass rushers to the right side with him there anyway. Sign the Guard from NE, draft a Center draft Sewell and a RB and run it down everyones throat. We could keep that together for 5 years. We'd be in every game. So you want to go back to ground and pound with a game manager at QB who is a turnover machine. Sorry, but no thanks.

Im not sold on keeping Darnold, but Im also gun shy after drafting him 3rd overall, that they have to hit on this #2 pick if they're not trading down.
Can you say Fields or Wilson are sure things at #2? If not, why not go for the pretty much guaranteed sure thing in Sewell?
Wasn't it just last offseason guys were clamoring to give Jack Conklin $14M to play RT?
Draft Sewell and go with him and Becton at tackle, and sign Thuney to play guard on a four year deal. Then when Thuney is up, you have the money to pay your tackles, and hopefully you've developed some young cheap interior OL by then.

This is more than a 2021 rebuild. If JD isn't sold on the other top QBs, why not kick the can down the road for a year, fill in the rest of the weaknesses and look at QB in the next draft?

We built our oline like that every team in the league would put 8 men in the box...and still wouldn't be able to stop us. Those back to back AFC championship games were a pretty good time. Nothing about what I proposed would stop JD from signing a vet QB or drafting another QB either. There isn't another surefire QB in the draft after Lawrence and we're not getting him. Take the sure thing in Sewell and go from there. It will pay dividends whoever the QB is.

Yeah - digging into Fields and Wilson doesn't make either sound like franchise-changing QBs. And I think, after QBs, the choices that probably change a franchise the most are OT and maybe WR. I wonder if we can trade down and still get Sewell - seems unlikely looking at the board. The 2009 team had such a great O-line. Made everything work better, even though our WRs were nothing special back then too.

I would have to think Sewell goes no lower than 3rd to either Miami or Cincy depending on next weeks games.

Trade out of the 2nd and grab even more picks for next year. Grab a few oline and another WR this year. We need a line before we put a rookie Qb under center. We have proven that the last three years with Sammy. Look at the kid in LA. 28 TD's. Drafted this year.

There was no competition. Bring in Rivers Falton, Flacco ot whoever, and best man wins. I'd like to see Sam get another shot, he might be salvageable. He's young and it's not unheard of. Look at Plunkett and Gannon to name a few.
