You’re prolly 1000% correct. However I think you may be ignoring just how awful/toxic Adam Gase is to QBs, and players in general. The consensus, not just here, seems to be that Sam has been handicapped with Gase and is likely better than what has been shown. How much better is certainly up for debate. the question for the Jets now becomes do you remove the gase albatross and see what Sam can do (which should have been done after week 4) or draft a second tier QB after Lawrence where consensus is there’s quite a drop off in talent. really both options aren’t that palatable, but that’s Jets for ya. This is it basically. I have read the opinion of a few "experts" who feel that Sam is better than any of the other prospects other than Lawrence. Personally I don't feel the experts have a clue when you look at how many top rated QBs fail and second tier QBs produce. I think the key factor is who falls into the right spot for their skills. I can't really say whether that's true or not but I will say this : THEY would get ruined by this team.

Or for the millionth time that's being ignored everytime I mention it :
How about we throw MORGAN out there to "see what he can do" also?
Don't you or anyone else remember Morgan?
Gase says Morgan isn't ready. lol
I know, right? lol.
I saw some articles stating that the Jets may be "AFRAID" of putting Morgan out there for "Fear" that he would royally screw things up and get the backlash from drafting him (WHICH IS THE SINGLE MOST IDIOTIC EXCUSE I'VE EVER READ!!! And the Most "Jets")
I also heard that their goal is to have Morgan be a Career Backup and I'm like "WTF??".
Quite frankly, I think the Jets were really afraid of Morgan coming in and doing what Sam did these past two weeks : WIN FOOTBALL GAMES.
So all this talk about drafting another QB is ridiculous. Get Sewell as the top pick, and if Sam shits the bed with a new coach, toss Morgan out there so we can see if he's got any future as a Starter.

The first and most important step is to choose the right coach. 2nd Work with that coach to understand who HE thinks would be the best QB for his system. Does he want Sam, a FA, a rookie, Morgan, Flacco, or some combination of these. 3rd. Surround whoever that pick is with talent. Build an OLine that can protect him and get the supporting cast that fits the system.

That's fair.
But if they're not going to use Morgan, they should just trade him to a team that will.
I feel bad for the guy who is treated like an ugly christmas sweater or a Fruitcake (which is interesting since the Jets were being coached by one).

Jets should have and could have drafted another WR with the waste of a Morgan pick. That was a dumb move by Joe Douglas. But whatever. His draft overall has looked good so I guess he’s allowed a few jet like picks. Idiots forever.

Hey. If we get Sewell, and then follows that up with "jet like" picks, I'd still give him a pass.
Sewell is THAT DAMN GOOD.

I don't know how this will ultimately turn out but I will be keeping an eye on the Jags games next year to see how Lawrence progresses.

I won't.
He is no longer on my radar.
I (and hopefully many others) have moved on.
Hope to hear Penei Sewell's name being called at #2.

BTW, as much as we both despised Robbie Anderson when he was a Jet, about 90% of Sam's throws DEEP were to him and the Jets had failed to get him a Deep-Threat WR to replace that dumb fuck.

lol wtf kyle trask looks like warm doo doo. so, jets. meh. He had the worst game of his career in what has turned into an exhibition game just like all of these other lower level bowl games. All of the kids that are projected to be drafted are opting out of these games and it's been happening for a decade. I don't like it, but the NFL is more business than sport, so I don't begrudge these kids for doing it. It's just one more layer.
