Not defending Idzik, but I've noticed quite a few posts about how he had 12 picks in the draft. From memory, quite a few of those picks were compensatory picks which (I understand) could not be traded by the Jets. It was also reported that he tried to make a trade to move up in the draft to take Marqise Lee but couldn't agree terms with the other team (the Bucs, from memory?) and the Jaguars sealed that deal. Lee has been average at best so far (though to be fair to him he's in Jacksonville and playing with Blake Bortles). You're talking about rumors from when Idizk was a GM. The players he wanted to trade up for where nothing special. If anything you're only building a case against him. In a deep draft he didn't make a move. The players he wanted to make were for mediocre to below avg players.

What happens if McDougle, Evans, Dozier, and IK turn out to be players? Will anyone give Idzik credit?

idzik started from day one when he was on the phone seeing who the next coach might be. following that was forcing geno to be the starter in year 2 and then not replacing colon and re-signing howard. he really wasted the season with whatever plan he was concocting. but his biggest fault was not understanding the game at all and not being an objective observer when it came to rex. imo, whatever rex's faults were, idzik needed to be the guy to make the decisions that rex couldn't make such as sticking with allen too long at corner, sticking with geno too long at qb. the fiasco that was this years draft was just icing on the cake. in all fairness you can't predict when guys get injured and mcdougal and evans may turn out to be good players. and let's face it, of the 12 draft picks, so many were so low that they were nearly worthless. but idzik did need to react faster when there was a problem at cornerback instead of sitting on cap money and he could have saved himself a lot of trouble by at least making an honest effort to get revis and cromartie back.

the moment Woody said.......... uh, you got the job............uhhhh......and you gotta keep rex on as the coach. BOOM goes the dynamite!!! but he apparently also had to keep bradway and bauer too. i get your p[oint. it was oil and vinegar from day one and idzik just didn't know the game well enough to figure things out. and he obviously thought he would be able to can rex after this season so he had no incentive to bolster the team either.

Why does it have to be Idzik wanting too rid himself of Rex? It is quite possible that they were both incompetent when it came to the draft and relied on our shitty scouts that we just fired. Idzik was terrible in every way possible, but this roster has Rexs' fingerprints all over it. I'm happy he went to a division rival. He either was in the room and helping make the decisions, or sat there, didn't say a word and went along with it. Sorry, Rex. You are just as much to blame. Good luck fucking up that team in Buffalo. I feel bad, but not too bad. They made their own bed... you know, some people are sooooo revolting that they just want to make one clam up for fear of saying anything harmful. maybe rex had such strong negative feelings about idzik that he knew he would explode if he had to say anything. and woody was probably in the room on draft day too.

When most at JI anointed him a genius with a plan, who cleverly was moving forward with fiscal sense.

When he kept talking about competition, competition, competition, but forced Rex to go with Geno.
I'm not saying Sanchez was great or that I didn't agree with taking a flyer on Geno in round 2. But he should have just drafted the players and let Rex pick who played. And the stupidest thing is he did Geno no favors by forcing him in there when he clearly wasn't ready.
