For me, it was mis-handling the CB situation. I just knew Idzik was over his head during all of free agency, but not not coming away with a single decent QB showed his lack of football sense and savvy.

I was having my doubts midway through the season but the Percy Harvin trade is what convinced me this guy had no real plan.
The trade itself was fine, but the fact that they could have gotten a younger, less injury prone, and by all accounts a better actual person version of Harvin in the draft in Brandin Cooks, well that showed me he was just kind of winging it as he went.
I just dont understand how you pass on Cooks, and then trade for a worse version of Cooks. Still makes no sense to me.

For me it was not getting one of the many very talented WR's in the draft. The icing on the cake: not addressing the horrendous DB or the fragile oline situations, and meddling in the Geno/Vick carousel.
I'll be honest, his shrewed handling of the financial situation his first season here made me think we had something special brewing, and that he'd hit it out of the park in year 2. No one could have seen how inept he was on the personnel side (at least I didn't).

For a team in dire need of a CB, not just because we were undermanned, but because our defensive scheme is predicated on it, I knew we were toast when we let no fewer than 5 guys get away....Vontae Davis, Revis, DRC, Munnerlyn, Alterraun Verner, etc. Heck, even Cromartie. Take a look at this NFL free agent CB list from 2014. Look for Dimitri Patterson (hint - Keep scrolling down the list). walterfootball.com/freeagents2014CB.phpAND, after missing out on a good FA CB we head into the draft with the ability to take a good CB prospect at 18 like Darqueze Dennard or Jason Verrett.....and we pass on CB until Round 3. It was complete and utter negligence of a NFL roster.

His press conference sealed it for me.

It was, for me, year 2, not even the draft, just the sitting on money and not shoring up problem areas, while also not extending key core players.

Last season's draft 12 picks being wasted only 2 players out of 12 being starters only 4 remaining on the roster. To see Idzik screw up the deepest draft in a decade sealed it for me.

I was an Idzik fan in the beginning, but once it was obvious that our rookies weren't contributing and he cut Jalen Saunders after passing on WR's like Martavius Bryant it was clear he had to go...

I started to question him as a GM during the draft when it seemed like a lot of his picks were reaches --- McDougle in the 3rd, Saunders in the 4th, etc. Was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Then we lost 3 CBs in the preseason and he did nothing to try to find an experienced replacement. Thats what did it for me.
Very happy to have Mac on board.

Lack of free agent signings especially at corner. Poor drafting other then Sheldon and Jace Amaro. Finally that rambling news conference when he comes off like a drunk in a bar at 3am.

Idzik on CB market: "We were a player in all that. Do you feel like we missed opportunities? No."
and that "we're trying to build sustainable success" Bullshit he kept spitting

Taking a Saftey instead of a WR in the first round. Knew he was a moron after that and not moving up, trading a few of the 12 picks to get a top WR even after the dumb Pryor pick. God, he was a first class moron.
