Correction: Rex Ryan has no interest in evaluating G-Nope Rex gave a big F U to his GM last night by hiding G-Nope after he was urged to start him, IMHO.... Nice to see you here Carlito. This is not a personnel matter just applicable to last night, he's been "ground & pound" from the minute he coached here regardless of the talent level. I hate that fuckin phrase, it's no place in today's game and year after year there's an excuse for it. It's nice to run the ball like the Ravens and Hawks but they again are far more balanced in their approach then we are under Rex. Likewise Har, And you're right, but you have to admit that this was more conservative than normal, even for Rex. As putrid as Geno has been he's always thrown the ball more than 15-20 times. I can count on my hands how often he's thrown below 15 times(the game against NO and ATL comes to mind). This was a clear message to the GM if you ask me and they both should be fired

It's become more and more obvious with each loss that the Jets need to do what it takes to secure Mariota in April. You sure as shit have no interest in further developing G-Nope Smith if you're going to run the ball 49 times and only throw it 13 times in a meaningless game when you're sitting at 2-9. And Vick sure as hell isn't the answer. I wouldn't even want him back as a stop gap next season. He doesn't seem interested at all. Wouldn't surprise me if he just decides to walk away at seasons end. So who are you relying on next year? Some mediocre journeyman like Brian Hoyer who was just benched in favor of Manziel after another multi-INT performance? Matt Moore? Colt McCoy? I'm all for bringing in someone like Bradford or Locker but that's under the plan of playing them for the first 6-8 games next year while a guy like Mariota starts the season on the bench. There's no way that the Jets can wind up with a Top 3-5 pick and not walk away with what is in my mind the best QB prospect in the draft. More important than that UT, is changing the culture in Florham Park. As DD said back on JI, The Jets need to become "QB-centric". A CS needs to be hired that will put developing a QB and building around a QB at a premium. If we draft Mariota and we don't hire the right CS, Mariota will join the long list of failed QB's in NY.

Absolutely......Picking this high you can't pass on a QB when you have nothing to build around. If we do take Mariota I want him nowhere near this coaching staff.

Ive been a Rex guy from day 1, and still am. I think last night was a planned F-U because he knows hes gone at the end of the season. What does he care about evaluating Geno if hes a goner?
That said, blow it up. New GM, new HC, all new staff. 50 MM in cap space and a top 5 pick. There is offensive skill talent here; we just need a staff and QB to take advantage of it.

Nah, he didn't hide him, he let him end the game with an interception. We would have gotten our asses blown out if not for the run game doing every last bit of work.

If you let G-Nope throw the ball there is going to be interceptions ... more interceptions than an average qb me fears. Broncos ran the ball effectively on the Fins, so it made perfect sense. However with RJ Stanford covering Decker, that dude should have been tested more than he was.

What happened to IK and other young players getting more playing time. Rex was that desperate for a win he decided to try and squeeze one out with 1960's game plan, what we should have been doing is evaluating what we have instead of trying to win in ugly desperate fashion.

Exactly this. He throws 10 picks so what we're 2-10. Let him play for a roster spot next season(although he should never start again after this season) If you can't let your QB throw more than 12 times then he might as well not be out there. They could have activated Simms to hand the ball off 50 times. This wreaks of Idzik mandating Geno play for evaluation, and Rex saying F U by handcuffing him.....

Rex handcuffed him for sure. And im glad he did. I agree, this was a big fuck you to Idzik and Woody. I love it, you give me shit players, you want to tell me who to play, ok, F U, we will run the ball the entire game and lose at the end to finish with a pick. Fuken Ryan is genius. Best avatar left turn..........classic Odd Couple. Season one I believe.......

And yes I am all for the inevitable coaching change that is coming. Hoping a new GM is on the menu also

As much as I like and respect Ryan his buffoonery would have been more tolerable if he won games. He fucked up with Sanchez inn failing help develop his personnel. Last night's embarrassment was the end for me. Nah renew his contract and get rid of itzik.

Not surprised... evaluations typically are performed on players with IQs above 50.

Yeah it's pretty obvious that Rex tanked this game. Even his post game presser sounded phony with all of the "aw shucks, can't believe we're 2-10" blabber. Sounded like he was either fishing for empathy or he was feigning remorse. Didn't sound like typical hungry-for-a-win Rex, especially given that it was a close game.

Yup he was ran out of Dallas and is now pretty much Auto from 53 yards in.
