Speaking of whom, Nick has certainly come a long way if FG misses are now considered uncharacteristic. Yup he was ran out of Dallas and is now pretty much Auto from 53 yards in. 3-3 from 50+ last year with 3 misses for the whole year, 2-2 from 50+ this year with 2 misses all year before Monday. So again uncharastically missed 2 Fgs

Quite true. If you let G-Nope throw the ball there is going to be interceptions ... more interceptions than an average qb me fears. Broncos ran the ball effectively on the Fins, so it made perfect sense. However with RJ Stanford covering Decker, that dude should have been tested more than he was. So what if he throws picks? We where 2-9, at least you can gauge whether he should be on the roster. What happened to IK and other young players getting more playing time. Rex was that desperate for a win he decided to try and squeeze one out with 1960's game plan, what we should have been doing is evaluating what we have instead of trying to win in ugly desperate fashion. Agreed but Rex and the coaches are coaching for their jobs, so it's no surprise that they are doing this - I hate to say it but if I was the coach looking for a job next season and forced to play Geno over Vick I would have him passing off the ball too

What makes Vick a more competent player than G-Nope at this point? We all witnessed that dogshit performance against Buffalo in Detroit. After a month of riding the bench and watching from the sidelines, why the hell wouldn't you want to see if the kid has learned anything? Especially during a totally lost season? It's almost like in Rex's mind, a veteran QB is always better than a young QB. Nevermind that Vick has lost most of his speed, serves up turnovers like hotcakes and can't go more than 2-3 games without getting banged up. He's been in the league longer, therefore, he must be better.

Vick fumbles the ball like crazy but at least there are a few throws every game where you think, wow that was a legitimate NFL sweetly thrown ball , something you rarely see with Geno. The Buffalo D line facing mediocre oline play make many qbs look silly. One could say that Vick is slightly less incompetent than G-Nope, and the Jets players apparently think that Vick is a more serious contender to win games.

Well yeah, mostly because the majority of the team is made up of guys in their early-mid 20's who grew up watching Vick play for the Falcons. Problem is, he isn't that kind of dynamic player anymore. Not even close. Vick's amazing speed and athleticism used to help mask his deficiencies as a passer. That's no longer the case.

Fair point, I just had no faith in Geno since months before we ended up drafting him. I felt the four games at the end of last season was no "Geno's definitely beginning to understand the pro game". I think he has the physical tools, but reading defenses, leading a team, making accurate throws ? Geno has gone Mark Sanchez year 4. Could he turn the corner ? I don't believe he will in a Jets uniform, maybe somewhere else. Maybe Chip Kelly will need a new back-up next year ? I hoped he would prove me and all the doubters wrong but no ... a.b.g-Nope

It's why I've been on the do what it takes to get Mariota bandwagon for the better part of two months now. But there's still no reason to not see if the kid has learned anything over the past month while riding the bench. You aren't learning anything about the kid if you're just telling him to hand the ball off 50 times a game. Vick isn't even going to be on the team a month or two from now. Hell, he might not even be in the NFL anymore a month or two from now. Guy seems totally disinterested.

I will be watching Mariota (and Ekpre-Olomu, in case he drops to the second round)

If they change their mind, they could start with an abacus test.
