IT'S OBVIOUS. TRADE GENO FOR CUTLER INSTEAD OF A DRAFT PICK.

I believe the plan is as follows:
FA: - Pick up Moore or Hoyer - either can start and provide real competition for Geno. - Pick up OG, CB and OLB.
Draft: - If the Jets FO is sold on Marroita and he's there at 6 they'll pull the trigger. - If a trade back is available they'll target OL, CB, RB, and WR with emphasis on OL. - If MM's not there, I can see them going OL at 6. Build the front baby.

Cook has just as many holes as either of these guys. He has the same accuracy concerns that Mariota would have, if not moreso. Even if he is slightly less risky than Mariota(which he likely isn't) who says the Jets are in a position to take him next year. I will say this right now, with our cap space and high draft pick and last place schedule, I'll be shocked if we are picking in the top 6 again. So now all the sudden we are the ones paying a kings ransom to move up? What if there is a really QB needy team picking early and they love Cook and won't trade regardless. You can't just wait and assume we will have a shot at Cook even if you thought he was great. This I hate these assumptions. No one knows if we'll be in position to draft a kid like Cook next year. Hell, no one knows if Cook will completely bomb or get injured next season and watch his value plummet. If Mariota is there at #6, then you take him unless the Eagles blow your tits off with a trade proposal. You could easily make the argument that aside from Philly, the Jets are the next best landing spot for him simply because of Chan Gailey. And the fact that we finally have some weapons on offense. The Jets could be in position to draft a potential franchise QB next month. Fuck next year.
