In light of the growing concerns around head trauma, a slew of young players retiring in their primes..
Would you let your kid play? Would you play today if you were a teen?

I wouldn't let my kids play ANY organized youth sports. It's the downfall of society.

I grew up never wearing helmets on bikes or rollerblades and was doing crazy ass jumps. I played football for a few years. We used to climb the gutters and jump off the roof. I've had knives thrown at my head, stuck into my knee cap, and held to my throat. I've almost drowned in my pool when I was 4 because I was badass enough to sink or swim bitches (yeah I sunk). Kids today are a bunch of pussies. We're gonna own these bitches till we're too geriatric to move without pooping our pants. God damned soft hand generation.

Borland is the only one that is surprising. Willis has a really bad turf toe so he basically cant push off his foot anymore. People don't realize it but that is one of the worst injuries you can get. Finnegan was washed up.
And you cannot understate how HGH testing will effect this type of stuff.
Football is fine. Just need to get passed this onslaught the ambulance chasers are bringing.

Not sure what this has to do with chronic traumatic encephalopathy....but congrats...excellent cane shaking for a man your age!

Yes
There's risks to almost everything in life. Doesn't mean that you have to shelter the shit out of your kids.
They could just as easily slip and smack their head on the kitchen floor and wind up with a concussion.

I have let my son play contact football since he was 8, he is now a Freshman in High School. It's really up to the parents to look out for the safety of their child, the coaches and trainers for these schools don't know your child as well as you do. My son has been fortunate to have not sustained any significant injuries thus far. If or when he does sustain any head trauma then we will re-evaluate. A second concussion would probably be the end for us.

My kids have the following rule, they must do something organized that has to do with a group, after that it is their choice and I support 110%. thank God my son chose Baseball at the age of 5, I have been managing his teams ever since up till the fall season. he has had two concussions. Now my son is helping manage his first team as well as playing on the seniors program. I can't complain.

You can sustain a concussion playing all kinds of sports, but it's ultimately up to the individuals support network to help monitor such things
