And I ask again...who cares? Rex is a coach that players would love to play for...and he's coming off 4 straight seasons of missing the playoffs. Belidick is a prick...and is coming off his 4th Superbowl victory. I couldn't give two shits if Rex is a likable, relatable guy who players like to play for. I want a guy who produces results, period. I don't care, you brought it up. But my point is you keep saying the love and respect doesn't exist and everyone says it does. How successful it ultimately makes him isn't an argument. He failed after initial success. Not arguing that. He has deficiencies as a HC, I agree. Players not respecting him isn't one of his issues. They play hard for him, want to win for him. He just isn't a great HC. If players love Rex so much and constantly play their hearts out for him...then explain the 2nd Buffalo game last year? The Jets were coming off two full weeks of rest. The Bills were snowed in until 3 days before the game and were forced to play on a neutral site. Yet the great Rex Ryan had his team come out like a bunch of slapdicks while the supposed horrible joke of a coach Doug Marrone had his team come out and smack the dogshit out of us with total ease. All of this crap about being "likable" and the players wanting to play hard for you means dick. Players liked Herm Edwards. Players liked Jerry Glanville. And players like Rex Ryan. In the end...who gives a shit? It all comes down to wins and losses.

Players loved playing under Rex. Every year he's near or at the top of the list of HCs that players want to play for. Don't remember all this Herm love. He was players coach but don't remember hearing about all the love that Rex got. Right down to his last one year reprieve and the cheers in the locker. Yeah there was such accountability for failing and such a low bar that the players thought it necessary to give him a Gatorade shower for less than a mediocre season. They should have been walking off that field in Miami looking fucking disgusted at their performance over the year, not jumpin around celebrating being losers. They celebtprated because they got the guy they wanted to coach them another year. They weren't celebrating 8-8, the definition of mediocre. Actually not getting the argument. They played their asses off for him that season, they weren't an 8-8 team on paper, played above their talent level, not below it. No one thought they should or would have beaten the fins that day, who were playing for a playoff spot. No one thought they could finish at .500 Hes not a great HC but players play for him.

Who is talking about the shower they gave him for finishing 8-8? I'm talking about the fuckin shower they have him for finishing 4-12. They play for him, but they are not scared to fail for him.

It's going to be one of those million post threads where I say he wasn't a great HC and you counter by asking how they could play like shit against so and so? none of which had a single thing to do with proving players didn't play hard for Rex. Are you saying they had talent and played under their talent level? I think they had nothing to coach the last few seasons.

Shower for finishing 4-12? Guess I missed that. Keeping a 4-12 team playing hard to the very end is an accomplishment. Week in and week out they didn't quit. A huge difference from not having enough talent to win. This team had nothing outside of a few players and a DL. They didn't have the talent to do more than fail.

That Rex isn't a good HC but players like him? Then I guess we agree

Unfortunately that does not translate into winning. This thread is about Rex getting to much credit as a HC and people acting as if we are goin to be sorry he's gone. How about less Rex Ryan and more Todd Bowles talk?

But I'd rather win more games

He comes off as the kind of coach that players want to play for. You're seriously umderestimating Rex if you believe his p,ayers don't respect him. theres nothing to fall for, he is what he is, he's real and the players love it He's real? I listened to 6 or however many years of manufactured bravado and I'm supposed to believe Rex is real? Please. There is also a huge difference between being liked by players and respected. I have no doubt players like Rex. All he does is stroke their egos and tell them how good they are, even if they are dog shit. Of course they like them, I bet a portion don't respect him though. Rex also runs a very soft camp and during the seasons very soft practices. If I were a player, I'd want to play for him. Rex's history of praising mediocrity and soft practices can't be rivaled.

I never realised why the Jets where so annoying to the rest of the league out of blind loyalty to my team. Now i see him with no affiliation to him, I get it.

Now we get to see why everyone not wearing green hated him, lol

When Rex and his Bills make a strong run this year.....stronger than the Jets (sorry, but the Jills are better than us on both sides of the ball) will people here give Rex any credit whatsoever? Stupid fucking SOJF post. Better on BOTH sides of the ball. What a bunch of hogwash. Learn the game of football.

The whole "player's coach" argument is worn out. Players could care less whether a coach Flats* them on the back or is a total hardass. Lets face it, if you can't handle someone getting in your mug for messing up, you shouldn't be a pro ballplayer to begin with.
You know what kind of coach demands the most respect? Coaches that win. On paper, more players will claim they want to play for a Rex Ryan or Herm Edwards type than someone like Bill Belidick. Yet I guarantee that in private, they will tell you almost 10 times out of 10 that they would prefer to play with Belidick in a heartbeat. Why? Because the guy wins, love him or hate him.
