I have oak taking Cooper regardless and Williams to wsh The old regime would have done that without a doubt. This new one seems to be doing some sensible things of late, enough to raise doubt about what they'll do. Having said that, he's too good for them to pass up. I think the old regime would have ran a low 4.3 to the podium for White. New regime is drafting better. Safer, more NFL ready prospects like Mack last year. Cooper is that guy for a them this year. Gotta give Carr someone to grow with.

Yep. I think the fun starts at #3. If Jags take Fowler at 3, then that leaves Williams for the Raiders at 4. Redskins kind of a wildcard but I think they take Dupree as a surprise over Ray & Beasley. Leaving Cooper, White, Beasley & Ray there for our choosing. Hopefully we do the smart thing & take Cooper in that case. If the Jags take Williams, I can see Cooper being taken by the Raiders. I have oak taking Cooper regardless and Williams to wsh To me they would be dumb as hell to pass on Williams They're so desperate for DL help, that there's a ton of speculation that they're moving Mack to DE. Which would be soooo Raiders. In fact, here's what Oakland's starting DL looks like at the moment... DE Justin Tuck DT Dan Williams DT Stacy McGee DE C.J. Wilson I don't know how the hell they pass on a talent like Leonard Williams, especially with a defensive guy like Del Rio running the ship. He already swung and missed on trying to bring Terrance Knighton to Oakland.

This is my usual reaction to the Jets draft

I don't think Williams is all that and a bag of chips. That stat about him being a non factor on 3rd downs was alarming for a "top 5" talent

I found my worst-case scenario in this mock draft: www.si.com/nfl/2015/04/21/2015-nfl-mock-draft-marcus-mariota-san-diego-chargers
They have Winston, Mariota, Fowler, Cooper and White gone. Williams is the top name on the board but such a non-need for the Jets that I would hope they either take Girlie or trade down. I just can't get excited about Beasley, Ray or Dupree as none of them feel to me like value at 6 with all of them being projected as far down as the 15-20 range in various mocks.
I have finally realized I want an offensive weapon at #6 (although I'll make an exception for Fowler) or else trade down a bit and grab someone like Scherff, Parker or one of the pass rushers in the 10-15 range and pick up another pick or two.
[NOTE: Can we please stop with the Gur-ley / Girlie thing. It was funny in the one thread but it's annoying site-wide].

I am not sure this is such a bad scenario. If Williams is sitting there at 6, I have to think there would be a couple of teams looking to jump ahead of the Bears to try to get him. Might be a pretty good opportunity to move back and get a couple of extra picks.

Agreed. Worst case in that we might not like the picks there, but here's a scenario I like and it plays out pretty nicely. Going by nfl.com, the next three teams 7-9 need pass rushers so Williams is a real possibility there. Then there is CLE at 12 (and 19) who needs DL help. Their 12 pick and 11th pick in 2nd round are a little steep to move up, but I'd float that.
At 12, you get one of the guys I mentioned for sure (Beasley, Ray, Dupree) or 'settle' for Scherff, Gurley or Parker and that second round pick nets you a really nice prospect for your trouble. I wouldn't hate that.

Agree - actually, according the the Draft Value Chart. 1.12 (1,200 points) and 2.11 (470 points) is pretty close in value to 1.6 (1,600). If that scenario plays out, I would love to see NO get in the mix as well. No matter what happens, the first 90 minutes on Thursday night is not going to be boring.

With Ray getting busted we might be able to pull off Cooper and Ray with our 1st two picks. That would really be something.

I think so too, but if Peter King is right about us wanting to trade back a few spots we might have the ammo to jump back up and grab Ray at the end of round 1.

True...similar to the scenario I did for my mock. If we trade with the saints get their 1st and 2nd rounders, we can trade both second rounders to get as high as #17. Not sure I'd risk trading up for a guy like Ray though.
