What about the longterm view on the WR position in the NFL? This is shaping up to be the second year in a row with an excellent crop of 10-20 WRs. You can't add 30 WRs to the NFL in just two years and then not expect that to push some other guys out of the league or devalue them. The WR strategy could be to trade for guys who are now in the 3rd or 4th year, or make future Brandon Marshall type deals. The WR talent is simply amazing in such a short time. Too much supply? Lower prices in terms of $ or draft picks for trading? I agree they go OT in the 2nd, but if the guys they like at this position are gone, I can see them trading back. There's a big dropoff at WR after Strong and DGB (and above them, really). Don't see them taking any of the next guys at 37

First off, this may have been covered elsewhere, sorry if it's a repeat discussion. Secondly, I am not trying to disparage anyone's opinion or imply that mine is any more valuable than anyone elses. With that said, for those upset with the Williams pick, especially at the expense of White, please point me in the direction of a consistent winning football team with the Fantasy Football type WR corp? Recent history shows that this actually doesn't improve a teams overall situation like many of us fans sometimes think. Did the Falcons get over the hump by adding Julio Jones to an already good offense? No. Are the Lions a legitimate threat with spending all that money on Golden Tage to go with Calvin Johnson? No. How were the Bucs with their amazing WRs and holes everywhere else? Hell even the Packers, with the best WR corp in the league to go along with the best QB in the league still continue to fall short. I'm not saying we shouldn't strive for a balanced team, of course we should, but adding Willians makes us a better team than adding Kevin White would have. There is no doubt in my mind. Williams was not my ideal pick going into the draft, but he is an elite talent, possibly the best in the draft. besides, watching the tape they played of white versus cooper made it blatantly obvious why cooper was picked 3rd. he looked much better than white. in the jets case, it's going to be all about qb play. if genot stinks it up again it's going to be a very long season. if he doesn't then this team has some seriously good potential.

No no, you said drugs. Like the next fucking jim brown was the musings of a madman. Gurley was every bit a legitimate possibility. ANd i'd argue it was the opposite of lucky. We got stuck with a guy who has top 5 talent at a position we are LOADED at. That's not luck, that's Jets luck. So next year, if the best DT is on hte board, you're OK with taking him too? Dude I felt the exact same way. Fuckin Jets luck. We were smart to take it tho IMO. We'll see in a few years won't we? Unless he turns into another Sheldon Richardson type and then your Offense is fucked. Try to throw on Revis and the rest of that group. We have such a complete Defense and this dude I'm sure opens so many possibilities we have the potential to win a SB if we can hang onto the damn ball. the big issue is they will have this defense together for at least two seasons. things can be pretty bright and rosey if genot can show something. imo the offense is going to be all about the qb play.

Don't see them taking any of the next guys at 37 agreed, but same at RT. If they didn't get marshall i'd say wr definitely, but I believe mccagnan would prefer to address OT if grades are equal. if they went wr i'd prefer lockett, i'm not a fan of guys who can't get good separation like strong. i don't expect them to address rb until the 3rd at the earliest given the depth.

I don't think he "prefers" to address OT I think he is looking at addressing that position as a priority and is not considering any of the next group of WR's based on who they've had in for visits. People dreaming about getting offensive game changing weapons in the rest of the draft are going to be disappointed.

People said the same thing last year about picking Pryor instead of a wr - that idzik addressed it in FA with decker. Didn't work out so well. We NEED a game changing offensive skill position player like a wr for geno to play well. He won't look good when wrs can't get open and can't catch the f'in ball when it hits them in the hands like decker did way too often and our stone hands TE did half the time too. I want a friggin big time wr rite friggin now!!!!! Green Beckham! Now!!!!

A few things:
The misuse/abuse of Coples is alarming for the NYJ/fans. We need to get this player to produce at his highest level(whether it be by altering scheme or transitioning him...let him play!), this should of been one of the talking points in the HC/Gm interviews. This is the only heartache I have with the Williams pick, due to the fact that we're unable to utilize Coples let alone another monster DL....
I was hoping USC's WR Agholor would drop to the second all along in case Cooper was selected and a WR wasn't obtained in round 1.
I still think Kevin White will be a player.
Not mad at the pick at all, Leonard Williams was the most sure fire player in the draft.
Not sure if the recent infusion of young WR talent in the NFL will alter prices Jetstream23, I still think the best way to obtain this talent is through the draft. The demand for WR is so great in this passing league that prices won't change much but the odds of obtaining one (outside of the draft) should/hopefully will increase.
What WR are you guys picking tonight if you're GM, if not what other position player?

I would man, but that place just reeks of smoke and I'm not a smoker. It's non-smoking. Always has been OK, I was thinking of the one in Roswell then and not Marietta.

Coples is a below average player and a one dimensional power rusher who lacks bend.
Williams is the best defensive line prospect in a long time. He's a more athletic Mo Wilkerson (similar frame, more power,, better instincts) with Sheldon Richardson's motor. Watch enough tape and the guy that will to mind is no other than Reggie White. Just a man among boys... And he's just 20.
People didn't like the Richardson pick, this will be the same thing... This guy is going to be an All Time great.
Can't wait to see this dline and defense... Fucking scary if we can get adequate safety play.

Everyone loves to blame Rex for everything wrong with any player or unit on the Jets but at some point Coples has to be held responsible. Why was Rex able to develop so many front 7 players not named Coples? When did Coples ever look different with his hand in the ground? I don't see a change of position as being the miracle cure that unleashes the monster version of Coples. I think he is what he is and a new HC or a switch to DL isn't going to change what he is.
