Todd needs to hold a open qb comp in camp. This guy is good and has the arm . And people are saying he's in a one read offense and he can't read coverages, watch the tcu comeback game, thats as close of an nfl test you can get , one of the best defenses in the country , nfl caliber athletes, and he wins baylor the game with a 21 point comeback in the fourth, this guy can maybe be like Russell Wilson , I pray to God.

Petty is a natural thrower - that's a rarity in today's NFL. If he has the chance to properly develop for a year or so he certainly has the tools and the potential to make a splash The opportunity for Tom Petty references alone are off the charts. Bryce Petty and the Heartbreakers? Free fallin into the end zone? So were the Dirty Sanchez references. And then he ran into an ass.

Something I really like about Petty is how fast he appears to process information on the field, he is very decisive with the ball.

and thus the Matt Simms era comes to a close... What an era it was. It will be talked about in hushed tones all over the greater New York area for hundreds of years to come.

He's a developmental QB with a lot of upside. He's not the best QB in the draft right now and no one knows that he will be. We can hope though, I wanted him Think winston aren't developmental QBs? The system Mariota ran is similar to Baylors. Petty is the best QB in the draft if the Jets take their time Petty will do better the the top 2 QBS taken day 1. Not 1 QB in this draft was a round 1 pick. That's how much hype surrounded Mariota. Only other QB worth taking was Grayson but he doesn't have the arm Petty does. Winston is anything but a developmental QB. MM is one but less of a project than Petty. I wanted Perty as a project but Petty isn't the best QB in he draft because of anything today. If you think that Jameis wasn't a first round talent you really shouldn't be talking about QBs in a draft class.

The concern with Petty is that he's not very mobile and when he tries to throw on the run or make a last second throw to his 2nd or 3rd read he craps the bed. If that was happening in college it could be a VERY bad problem with faster players at the NFL level. He needs some remedial work on reading defenses and decision-making. hmmm, sounds like another genot, except for the mobility part. i'm glad they picked a qb. if not mariota at six then just about anyone else in the lower rounds. i'm also glad they went for a qb instead of another athletic type like boyd..

Good, a coaching staff that knows what the fuck they're doing.
Put a clipboard in his hand for a year and then let him compete for the job in 2016.

No one else in the league other than Geno and Fitz will be trying to find holes to throw in between Richardson Wilkerson Williams revis cromartie skrine etc in practice. Between those three DL that's probably the most fearsome 1000 pounds of predator in the league. Nothing will scare these guys on game day. This was actually a problem in training camp and one that I do acknowledge and blame Rex for, he never got the offense a chance to get going, find a rhythm, before he threw the kitchen sink at them with "his" defense. So he could "win" TC. That's why our offense always started out so slow and herky jerky every season.

Nice find Hollywood it's good to see these full games of his to get a better overall sense of what his game is.
Dat release tho... No wind-up in his delivery which is right tight and compact with no wasted motion. Like the fact that he has clean footwork and keeps his shoulders parallel with his hips to shift his weight while keeping balance.
Petty has everything you want in a QB he just needs time to sit and learn.

I honestly believe this is the guy the Jets needed to get, he hummed the ball during the combine and "experts" sing his praises as far as football IQ.
Very happy.

Winston is EJ Manual 2.0 I said in several posts that both Winston Mariota are not day 1 picks the media and the terrible selection of talent has hype these guys through the roof. There are better options such as Petty and Grayson are both better options. Manual is Geno smith throws a ton of picks and gets the ball knocked out of his hand when under pressure. Grayson and Petty will be better QBS if given the time to develop. None of these QBS are day 1 starters I hope the fans shut up and don't pressure this franchise to start Petty this year under no circumstances should Petty see the field if this kid is forced to start then you will have ruined another QB. This kid can play and after watching all 3 of these kids Petty is the best of the bunch providing he sits for a year or 2.
