Honestly, if Mariotta is gone, and I'm not sold on him btw but it just seems like you "have" to take him if you're us, I don't care if we pick Defense. I'd rather see us make some kind of trades or do something significant in free agency for PROVEN Offensive talent that will fit whatever it is we'll be trying to do. Who knows whatever in the fuck that will be. Harvin, Amaro, and Ivory are a decent start. Idzik can fucking burn in hell for what he did with these WR's in the draft. He absolutely cannot get another draft. No excuses. Me and 90% of JI could have done better and I know jack shit about NCAA. Don't follow it at all. I would have done better. Sickening. Asshole set us back another 2 years at least with that draft. What were these people saying about Roethlisberger, Flacco, Romo, Wilson, Rodgers, Brees, and Brady? Bottom line is no one knows. that is why when a guy has the physical tools, football instincts, and leadership qualities you take him. True, if you are waiting for a "sure thing" QB to draft in the first round you could wait 10 years before there is one of those type of prospects available. Beyond that I think too many people evaluate these QBs like they are finished products right now and will not continue to develop or get better. They assume the decisions they make now in college will be the same decisions they make in the NFL. The bottom line is that most of these QBs in college aren't coached up to refine their fundamentals. There is a limited number of hours coaches can have the players and the vast majority of time is spent on installing game plans and preparing for future opponents.

All those WRs that EVERYONE with an ounce of football smarts (including 99% of fans) knew were there for the picking. And what does our dumb as rockis GM do? Doesn't take ONE of them with 12 picks. UNFORGIVEABLE. Set us back years. And, all these rookie WRs are having productive seasons (just like everyopne knew, except Idzik). FIRE HIM NOW!! I do not want to see his face ever again. He goes or we fans go! That simple.

I can't even imagine any decent coach will even wanna come work for this guy after all this. I think Woody knows this. He has to.

And, yes, there are still some who want to give Idzik and his "plan" more time. During the draft, I could not understand what he was thinking. Saftey? TE? When we absolutely NEEDED a WR. I've never seen anyone go so blindley into a season w/ the WR corps and CB corps we had. And, it absolutely Killed us and destroyed our season. Then, the moron, when we are 1-7 or whatever trades for Percey Harvin. IDIOT!!!! Too little wayyyy to late. He's a complete disaster and the sooner he goes the better. I will never forgive him for what he did to this team. EVER!!!

Don't worry everyone...we'll be in the running for a top 5 draft pick next year as well. Hopefully we'll have a chance at Connor Cook.

We need a QB, if Mariotta and Winston are not available in Round 1, than whenever the Jets pick in the 2d round or later if a QB is available who grades in or around that round, they need to take him. Bottom line, in every draft they need to select a QB's until they find one. Agreed... I just looked over the last few years of drafts and decent QBs were available. Dalton, kapernick, Wilson , a few others. My fear is that I have not seen ONE that I believe would have developed under REX and the revolving door of OC's.

So the Jets aren't getting Cooper? I personally don't think he'll be there at 6, but some team might like Parker or White. There is a long way to go before the draft. Lots of things can and will change. However, dropping four spots SUCKS since this has been a lost season since November.

Rex,
Where the fuck were you when "true Jets fans" wanted you to win in Sept., Oct., and Nov.?

I actually don't think I can watch the draft this year. If both QBs come off the board (they probably will) I'm going to have to be restrained so I don't break something. This win sucks so fucking much I can't actually believe it. God fucking help me if we pick another defensive player. I don't even care if its Gregory. If we pick another defensive player with a first round pick I'll mentally check out for the season. I can't watch this shit on offense anymore. I actually cannot tolerate it. Shame on ANYONE thinking that doing this would be acceptable. Absolutely...it's time to pull the trigger on a blue chip offensive talent, if it's not Mariota or Winston it's gotta be Cooper. I agree But if we're picking at #6 or #7 then there's no guarantee that Cooper will be there. In that case, Gregory could very well be the BPA if he's still on the board and would fill a big position of need. If Mariota, Winston and Cooper are gone then the only other offensive players who make a bit of sense to take that high are Parker and Scherff, especially if Peat is staying in school. Now I like Scherff, but a potential 12-15 sack a year type of passrusher is going to make far more of an impact than a pro-bowl caliber OG. And I like Parker, but are people really sold on him as a borderline Top 5 pick? There's still no question that Gregory is a better DE/OLB prospect than Parker is a WR prospect. And it's not like you couldn't add a big, outside target like Ty Montgomery, Sammie Coates or Devin Funchess in the 2nd/3rd round.

What do the teams that have fallen (risen?) to the top of the draft have in common? They need a QB. The Jets are in the same position as the Bucs or the Titans, the difference is that Rex Ryan has coached them out of the top two spots. Idzik should have fired him after the bye week for the long term good of the team. ETA: the CBS mock draft has the Jets picking a DE at 6. SMH ETA2: Coach of the Year Bruce Arians was headed to the SB until he lost his QB If it was Randy Gregory, then I'd have no problem with it. Gregory is the sole defensive player that I wouldn't mind taking in the Top 10. We've been complaining ever since we traded Abe away almost a decade ago that we need a terrorizing passrusher off the edge and Gregory has DeMarcus Ware written all over him. He's shown that he can play with his hand in the dirt and standing up. He's also flashed the ability to drop back in coverage and cover TE's and slot receivers in space. Coples is best suited as a DL and guys like Pace and Babin are going to be gone after this season. OLB is definitely going to be a big need for this team...and potentially DE if the new coach wants to run more of a base 4-3. Gregory can play both One could argue that he's nearly as much of a physical freak as Clowney without all of the questions surrounding his desire and work ethic. Agree on Gregory and somehow it'll be supremely ironic if we go out and finally get the 'bitch kitty' pass-rushing OLB that our defense has been crying out for since Rex got here( or as you point out since we had Abe)just as he leaves although I am now of the view RR Values his schemes more than getting actual talent in place at OLB....Our problems on D have always come in my view from our vastly overrated ability to put QB's under pressure while on the other side of the ball our signal callers are running for their lives the moment the ball is snapped.
