I would be officially concerned with Management if they went into 2016 "betting on Petty".... That would demonstrate a lack of understanding about where that kid is. He needs at least a couple years being mentored... If things progress faster, great - but we need approach next year looking to find a starter.

Yeah, I like Petty but you'd have to be a complete fucking moron to bank your future on some developmental, 4th round QB panning out. Personally, I'd bring back Fitz for 1 more year (hopefully as a backup/mentor) and draft another QB in the 2nd/3rd to push Petty.

Might as well trade for Glennon...outside of a blockbuster trade for Brees what else is out there? Glennon vs Petty...may the best man win NO...

Pretty clear neither Geno nor Fitz is the long term answer at QB. The time to move on at the position is upon us. There will be a new QB (yet again) under center in 2016. So, who will it be, and why? Bryce Petty - in the house already RGIII - sure to be available With assets available to move up in the draft -- extra DB's and Coples -- should they target a player in the draft and try to trade up (if necessary) to get their man. The candidates are: Jared Goff Conner Cook Paxton Lynch Jacoby Brissett Christian Hackenberg Carson Wentz Kevin Hogan I'm not overly excited about any of these guys in the draft, but I do like Hackenberg more than the others. I truly hope Petty is the answer, but the team should do its due diligence on RGII. Unfortunately, I suspect RGIII has a personality that does not fit with a team concept (i.e. his teammates hate him), but he is a talented player with something to prove who could benefit from Gailey's spread O concepts. So, for me plan A is Petty, but I would like to see him get some reps near the end of the season (unless we are in a playoff race). Plan B would be to kick the tires on RGIII. Plan C would be Hackenberg. Or is there someone I'm missing? Nothing would ever make me stop being a fan of the Jets, not even 20 consecutive winless seasons... But Kaepernick becoming a jet would be as close as I get to leaving this team.

the thing is the jets don't need to draft a qb. there are 31 other teams and they all have one or two qb's sitting on the bench. they can trde or wit for one of those guys to go into free agency. there's always a reason why a guy isn't starting but sometimes it's because the starter is so good or he needs a change in scenary or system. they can get a qb that's better than geno and probably better than fitz. all they need is cash.
