jUst some random rambling here.
They are obviously trending downward having lost 4 out of the last 5. Once things start spiraling downward like this, mental issues overtake actual physical ones and it will take some heroic coaching to snap them out of it, which I have no faith in this rookie coach doing, given the blandness he has demonstrated so far.
This was one of the few "sure win" games when the season started. Who else? The Titans? Other than that, anybody? So if that happens the team ends up 5-11 or 6-10 which is ever so slightly better than last year, and last year wasn't good enough to get us into the QB sweepstakes. Would they trade up, and throw Sheldon or Mo into the mix?
Looks like other teams totally have the Jets number. The running game has disappeared. Fitz threw some decent balls today but no one seems to want to catch them.
I disagreed with certain moves in the off season and it looks like those chickens are coming home to roost. I disagreed with pouring money into the secondary (of aging veterans who have shown they have clearly passed their sell by date), would rather have seen some if not most of it go into the Oline and running game. If you don't have a QB, don't have a way of getting one, then shore up what you can, namely those two units. Oh and how about some attention to special teams? OMG that unit is a dumpster fire! When Bowles was hired I kept asking what his philosophy towards building and coaching a team was. All he said was "complementary football" which I did not understand. I see now that means all three phases suck equally.
I do not understand Macagnan's approach to building this team, this year and the future. It looks like he was going for a win now approach with the way he spent like a fool during the off season, but this team is not contending for a playoff spot, so why not just work on building it for the future instead of paying all those over the hill guys?
I hated Tannenbaum but at least he spent first round picks and got expensive FA's for the Oline. This oline has been neglected for way too long. They have been relying on D'Brick and Mangold to stay healthy forever for too long. D'Brick is seriously declining and now Mangold is getting one injury after another (lacerated hand today). And there is no one up and coming behind them. idzik's third round picks strategy was horrible, and this FO's doesn't seem to be any better.
And I did not agree with the Leonard Williams selection at the time though I was shot down for that. Having said that Cooper was gone so I don't know who would have been the next best. Maybe they should have traded down but probably they couldn't anyway so never mind.
Anyway today's was a pivotal game, a crossroads, make or break, must win, all those cliches and the team failed miserably. Some serious soul searching has to take place in that locker room and FO. No idea what Bowles said after the game in his PC but I can't stand listening to his slurred mumbling anyway. I have little to no faith in him being the savior anyway.
