Hear me out here.....I'm as gutted as the next man at how this season ended but I'm quite surprised at the level of hate for a team that just went 10-6 where we beat the Pats and Giants with a first year coach and GM.
No doubt it was an agonising defeat and massive missed opportunity, but I'm not sure the 15 Jets deserve that label.
I've done a lot of thinking/drinking the last 48 hours, I've listened to countless radio shows and read all the articles and I've noticed that Jet fans in the media like Chris Wessling, Dan Hanzus, mike Greenberg etc all put out the SOJ message in frustration.
It seems that everytime things don't go our way we use this term to prove ourselves right, kinda like "I told you so", I think it makes us feel better.
It's become increasingly apparent that the players are aware of this stigma and i think loser Jet fans mentality filters down to the players, they just don't believe in themselves come crunch time.
I'm not judging anyone here because I would put myself in the SOJ mindset, I'm a glass half empty dry type of guy. It just has me wondering whether this years team deserves it, and secondly that fans especially in the media can't wait to jump on the team and use it.
The team does not carry a winners mentality, a few players like B-Marsh have it, but the rest seem aware of this label and I think it effects them come crunch time.
I guess what I'm saying in a nutshell is that we are born losers both as a team and a fanbase, if we want the team to change it's mentality than shouldn't we? I'm asking because I personally want to change my attitude towards the team.
Should we not be giving this team some credit

No
We more than doubled our win total from last year, fielded the best offense we've had in 16 years and are no longer perceived as a fucking laughing stock like we had been for the previous 4-5 seasons.
This was just one of those bullshit years where 10-6 wasn't good enough to get in.

I've said before that SOJ isn't just the kotite 1-15 or last year's 4-12, it's also the 10-6, 11-5 years that tease and then rip your friggin heart out just when they are on the precipice of ultimate victory. Yes, it's definitely the disaster years of the late 80s, most of the 90s w/ kotite's corpse (until '97), the last few years, etc. But, it's also the horrible letdowns of '82, '85, '86, '98, '04, '09, '10 and then this friggin year. Again, they don't want to be called SOJ, but they are the Same ol' losers. As for it trickling down to the players, F them too. THey want to change it, then F'in win. They are mostly clueless idiots - Sheldon Richardson said in the paper today that "the fans probably felt it was a successful season, but the players wanted to get into the dance." He doesn't know the fans at all if that's what he thinks. STFU sheldon. They get no credit. They had their shot and blew it like always. SICK OF THEM!

In all honesty, from my mid-season break to never believing in this team, I was all over Fitz in every GDT and I knew they where gonna lose that game Sunday. I was proved right that there was a kick in the balls comin, yet I'm starting to get the feeling that our lack of confidence and SOJ mentality also holds this team back. When I've sat and looked at the season now the dust has settled, I'm quite impressed. It doesn't make me feel any better, just wish I was a believer and a glass have full sunshiner. Thing is with games like Sunday how do you break the cycle?

Raiders Bills Browns Jags Eagles Texans Bucs etc? We as fans use this term when it doesn't apply, for example... Jets lose WC at Cincy.....One and done same ole Jets. Lose to Pats in divisional....SOJ. Lose a champ game....SOJ. Get to but lose SB.....SOJ. It applies sometimes but not everytime we don't get what we want, certainly not a 10 win season, the team gave it their all this year and are now hearing the fanbase ripping them with this label. I'm like you repulsion but I at least want to change.

I'm like you repulsion but I at least want to change. The Raiders have 3 SBs (in my lifetime) and the Bucs have a semi-recent one. If we had 3 SBs in my lifetime I would be much more patient and understanding. I'm a yankees fan and do not rip them at all when they don't win a WS or make the playoffs. As for the Browns, Jags, Texans, we are comparing ourselves to the worst franchises in the league. Not great company to be in. As for our attitude affecting the outcome of games, I was feeling good and positive they'd win on Sunday. I was fooled again. Thought this year was different (again). Then they broke my heart again. I was positive and it still didn't matter. Been a fan since 1981. Not one payoff for all the blood, sweat and tears. Not a single one. Just sick and tired of it. They pulled the exact same thing in '81 and '82 and 7 other times. And this is SOJ to me.

+1. STupid Limey. And NO. Team exceded all expectations even if they fell painfully short in the last stretch. How refreshing to not hold your breath everytime our QB dropped back to pass.

Ok guys I'm finally off the ledge
In the grand scheme of things I'll say no. This team went from 4 wins to 10 in the span of 1 season. Improved secondary, and had a top 10 offense for the first time in decades....
With that being said that fucking pile of garbage in Buffalo was an all time SOJ performance. Downright miserable and unacceptable...

Yeah, but we might have said the same thing about last year's schedule at this time last year. Cowboys and Eagles were expected to contend. Colts were expected to be a lot better than they were. Dolphins were expected to contend for a wild card. I agree that it looks tougher right now than the schedule we just played, but you never know how it will actually play out.
