What IS his trade value? This board is all over the place with what they think he can fetch. In my opinion? A lot lower than most of you. There are so many variables at play here. 1. He's going to fetch a huge contract, which lowers trade value. 2. Obviously the injury 3. He's a very very good player, top 25 defensive player for sure. Revis fetched a 1st and a 4th while being the best defensive player at the time. Yes acl injury and all. 4. His position is not a premiere position, hurts his value a bit here as well. So where do we stand? I think a combination of a 2nd and a conditional 4th or 5th that could become a 3rd/4th. I seriously doubt a first round pick is an option unless it's around the 27-31 (lol patriots) range. Even then I don't think so. I've seen people say we can get 2 firsts which boggles my mind. I don't even think a healthy Revis could have fetched two firsts at the time. So expectations should be seriously tempered. Unless Maccagnan pulls a vintage Tannenbaum [ ] I think this is most likely. Thoughts?

Not much IMO. Well, at least you won't see anyone really interested.
How many teams want to dish out a $100 million contract PLUS give up a 1st round pick?

So - is it official? Did the Jets tag him?

So - is it official? Did the Jets tag him? Yes Non-exclusive tag so he can negotiate with other teams

If we can get a first off say the Raiders, take it and run. They have to hit the spendin floor and actually could do with a contract like that, not sure they cough a first up though.
I would love a first and a chance to dump that cap hit.

So the way I see it, in a monetary sense, his trade value is low because it would be a tough sell for a team to acquire him, pay him an enormous contract and give high multiple picks. However teams that have money to spend and/or have multiple draft picks have the chance of getting a pro bowl caliber player who might actually produce higher sack numbers should a team with a 4-3 defense be interested. The fact is that Mo is a proven commodity plays a role as well, drafting somebody is always a crap shoot and that has been proven before many of times when drafting a DL. I can see a team like the Giants being interested and maybe swapping #1's with us and the Giants giving us a 3rd this year and 1st rounder next year. Decent but not great value given the circumstances.

JMO You kidding me? If they swap firsts give us a 3rd and a first next year I'd pack Wilkersons bags myself. That is a fairy dust trade

Let's hope a team does come to terms with him bc they'd have to give the Jets 2 first round picks if the Jets decided not to match the offer. Trade negotiations of premier franchised players begin at 2 first round picks and drop from there. For example, the Chiefs traded a franchised Jared Allen to the Vikings for a 1st and two 3rd's and gave him the richest contract in nfl history at that time. So there is a precedent there to ask for at least a first round pick. And the value of the contract that Mo will get has no bearing on the return the Jets would be able to get. And I can make a case, after watching that super bowl, that defensive end is a premier position in the nfl. They sure get paid like it.

Don't think a guy coming off a broken leg has much value.

A guy coming off about ACL tear netted an early 1st and a 4th round pick. A much more significant injury than a broken bone.

Don't think a guy coming off a broken leg has much value. That's nuts, Fitz had the same injury last year and look how well he recovered. Granted it was earlier in the season but broken legs heal much more easily than torn ligaments or tendons. He will have to build up the muscles around it but he'd be doing that anyway. Having said that, no one is giving up two first rounders.
